Bet they're reading that wrong, and if they read it right, they would be shocked at what it was trying to tell us.

I was going to leave this in the lobby, but I didn't want to disrupt the conversation going on there any more than I already had by leaving a reply there, so I'll see if I can post the link here.

Happy 6th birthday to your grandson. :)

Wed Jan 27 2021 15:17:48 MST from Jerry Moore Jr.

Thanks! Yes I do! Now for a memory that doesn't have a picture:

Good morning! I'm feeling better today, since I got my prescription filled for the drug I take to dull the pain from the neuropathy that comes from the legs I lost.  Two doses and most of the nausea is gone!

Happy sixth birthday to my oldest grandson, Layton! This is the memory of my first mention of him here.

From six years ago:

Hey! I'm a grand-dad! I got the word at eleven am, but kept quiet [not easy for me] until I got permission. I just got an email with half a dozen pictures and I'll share one with you. Michelle can fill in the rest when she gets online later. His name is Layton, by the way.

Time for another memory, and this day was memorable! Here's a memory from six years ago:

Today is my grandson's First Birthday! 🙂 Happy Birthday Layton William Thomas Holvik! Wednesday's Pictures of the Day are by Tabitha Laden. They are 'Eastern Menace' and 'Yellow Poison Fairy Frog' and 'Red Poison Fairy Frog' and 'Green Poison Fairy Frog' - She does a lot more than tree frogs, but I wanted to keep 'em all together for comparison. Since I have more of her art, you'll be seeing her highlighted here several more times this year.

OK - one more picture, and it's not a memory, but it IS funny!

Keep in mind, rooms scroll and posts are not forever. If you want to save images to a directory room, I'll add that feature now. I'll have to write you up a tutorial on how to upload files to the directories, too. I may have already done so.

Donovan: I'm thinking of using this as a sort of a blog. Should I make a special room for it, or just combine it with the memory posts and whatever else I have to say? The following is an example:

Listening to Scott Joplin playing Dixieland Ragtime piano. I love his stuff, but I don't want to pay for it. ("The Entertainer" theme from the movie "The Sting" is playing as I type) I already paid for some of the stuff I love on vinyl records, back before CDs and DVDs were around, and although they are, sadly, long lost, I don't feel that I should have to pay for them again. But that's not the reason I started this message. I use Alexa on this tablet, since it came with the machine. I ask Alexa to play music for me, even though I don't pay money to Amazon Music for a subscription. Some artists aren't available for free, and Alexa will ask if I want to subscribe. I firmly tell Alexa "No" and ask for music by another artist. Most of my likes are covered to some extent, but some artists available music, like Bent Fabric (" Alley Cat") have only one or a few selections. Bent Fabric, for example, has only his piano rendition of "Alley Cat" available, in spite of the fact that I owned several LP albums of his, and had recorded the contents of one of them digitally, back when I still had my record collection and the software to record and edit music from records and tapes. I recorded quite a few, because they weren't available on CDs. Unfortunately, after I moved back to California from Virginia, and I had almost all my stuff in storage, I became severely ill, and nearly died. The doctors told my daughter that there was less than a fifty percent chance that I would regain consciousness, and a chance of brain damage, even if I did. She didn't send the payments for storage rental, and I lost it all, including my records, tapes, equipment, software and also a whole lot of technical and Fantasy and Science Fiction books and magazines - and all my back-up discs.

Wandering back to my original topic, I had discovered that the available music for living artists, like Paul Simon, was expanded to include new music as it came out. Another thing that I've noticed is that the available music by Scott Joplin, even though he's not producing any more, has increased since I've been listening to it. I request it frequently, as I do for other artists I like (Teresa Brewer, Neal Diamond and others). I'm wondering if the Amazon system is responding to my interests by expanding the library available to me when it notices that I request the same artists frequently. I have no idea, and doubt that they would do anything that costs them money. I guess I'm an old, retired guy with too much time on his hands, who overthinks everything. 😂

You just answered my question before I asked it! Now the question is: can you make this room a directory room, like I could on my old Citadel? I could upload not only pictures, but also blog posts!

Getting ready for bed. You can make a room that is a personal blog here, too... but this is your room. You do with it what you want. It is yours.

I'll respond tomorrow.

Every time I edit the room, it removes you as the Room Aide, and I have to add you back.

Ig - by design or a bug in the chickenscratch?

Jerry - if you lose Aide status in this room, I'll fix it - just let me know.

Yeah, I know they aren't ALL Dragon pictures, but these memories are from my daily project: Pictures of the Day, which I did for a couple of years, before it became too much work.

Of course, this, and the loss of my legs to diabetes, not to mention old age, may have something to do with that decision:

Oh, here's the text to go with the picture of me in a hospital bed:

One year anniversary of the last time I was in the hospital. Pneumonia, from my system having been weakened by a virus I caught from my grandsons. Covid? I have no clue, although I know that it was active already, and hadn't been noticed yet, so they weren't testing for it back then. Has it really only been a year since the Chinese Communist biological attack shut down our economy, and locked us in our homes? I feel like I'm living in a Science Fiction thriller, where the people in charge are really stupid! This is the last memory for today

--

After uploading that, I was tired, and went back to bed. I'd had lunch before doing the upload, and would have stayed on to upload copies of the pictures, but I don't always have the energy, anymore, to do the things that I think of. I left the other computer logged in, and at the prompt for uploading, so I can pick up where I left off after dinner. Thanks, Donovan, and I hope you have plenty of room for pictures of Dragons and other Fantasy creatures. If I get them all uploaded to the directory, there, it will contain over a thousand pictures. Don't panic, though, I'll only upload ones that are in current or recent posts.

The system has a good portion of 240gb available - and I can always add more space if necessary, Jerry.

In the meantime, I'm really enjoying the images. Although seeing you sick and in the hospital - I don't like to see anyone in that kind of shape. I'm very happy you're doing better.

There you go. You've got this figured out, Jerry. Upload documents, images, whatever archives you want to that are relevant to preserving the Dragon's Den.

I really wish the other Sysops would join, take their rooms - and upload any Citadel archives they might have from the SacCits. I'd love to become a museum of what we were.
