Hey, Gary! Good to type at you again! I miss those good old days, when I was putting in fourteen hours a day, keeping the store open (seven days a week), and you were putting in time, modifying my BBS for me because I didn't have the time to learn the C language, so that I could do it myself. I still say that we should have put in automatic updating rooms across multiple Citadel BBSs. We would have beat the internet, and become rich, like Zuckerberg, or maybe INSTEAD of MZ! I could have lived with that! 😂

 

Pagan was always cool to me, and remains so, I believe. 

I'm pretty certain he is Left of us, and I think even if he were right, he finds my general personality off-putting. As I am well aware, I am Not Everyone's Cup of Tea(tm). 

Yeah... I keep trying to get Jan to come here - but you know, it is hard to compete with WalMart when your prices are higher and you have less selection and it is more difficult to get to. 

I'd love to have Pagan here - but I don't think he does much social media at all. I'd like to have everyone here - regardless of their politics - I'd just like them to Z-forget rooms that have topics they don't agree with or want to participate in and avoid arguments about politics for the most part. I mean - Ig has had some political and religious dust-ups over at Uncensored - and I think his model of gently trying to encourage people to just agree to disagree works well. I just don't know if I have the maturity to be as impartial as he is in those situations. 

Agree with you completely about maybe not another Trump Administration - but an Administration that comes to us from the Trump Party. The GOP and DNC aren't going to get rid of the legacy of Trump just by impeaching the MAN - this is a thorn that will be stuck in their side for a while going forward. They pursue it doggedly enough, and they may make a martyr out of Donald Trump. 

And yeah - Z those rooms you don't care about. That is the great thing about Citadel. Customize it to your tastes and ignore anything you don't care about. Facebook and Twitter want to constantly stuff your feed full of posts that will irritate you, cause conflict, and create traffic for their sites. They peddle hate.

Just read your message mentioning Pagan Flames, Fossil Freak (or was it Phreak?) and a few others. I've talked to Ollinger a few times, when he commented on Jan's messages on FB, but he's rather cool towards me, since some of my ex-wife's thugs dropped by his place, threatened him and repossessed my original DDBBS computer and all the back-up disks. Probably scared the hell out of him. I know they scared the hell out of me!

I'll mention to Jan that I'm logging in over here, and that it's kind of lonely, and ask her to mention it to Pagan, as well, although you might be right about him leaning left (see what I did there?), and it could be another reason for his failure to respond warmly to my messages.

I'm every bit as intense as I was back then - I just didn't care about politics, back then. I was a Kennedy Democrat, and I haven't changed much, except that I'm now a Trump Republican (which True Republicans will tell you isn't a Republican at all. If the Donald were to announce his own political party, I'd want to be among the first in line! Not for President Trump, himself, but in the hope that it would attract like political minds, instead of career politicians.

 

I'll try to leave a post in the Citadelphia group, in case anyone is still there. You've got a lot of rooms here, that I'm not interested in, but that's because Citadel isn't for everybody, it's for a lot of people with different interests, and nobody (except for the SYSOP) is going to be interested in all of them! 😂

Well, the x86 version DID have the automatic updating rooms across multiple Citadels.  CitNet was implemented across the country.  Hotel was the West Coast hub from Minneapolis and transferred message between Sacramento and Hue Jr.'s system around 2:00 am every morning.  Then there were other systems on the west coast that connected to Hotel to trade messages.  Hue Jr.'s system was the central network hub for all of the Citadel systems.  I think we even had an international system out of Italy in the network for a while that ran Asgard-86.  Not sure of the connection path, I just remember seeing message in the shared rooms.

And I know that Gary made the time to learn C so he could make changes for your BBS.  Truth be told, he had not done much programming in C before starting with you.  And even had to debug the BSD compiler (some assembler coding required) to be able to compile the code.  And modify the compiler to support overlay code when SacCit80 grew out of the 64k memory model.

Did he, or is he just assuming that Gary is online and lurking like he is known to do?  Its a Citadel.  I always assume Gary is lurking around one of these.  I know for a fact that he was lurking around Uncensored not long after they first came up on the internet.  I have not been there in a while so I am not sure if he is still there or not.

 

So the question is, do you think Gary and Otto are the same person, or are you guessing again?  You still have not identified me yet.  Maybe you need to quit guessing and make a choice.

Did he, or is he just assuming that Gary is online and lurking like he is known to do?  Its a Citadel.  I always assume Gary is lurking around one of these.  I know for a fact that he was lurking around Uncensored not long after they first came up on the internet.  I have not been there in a while so I am not sure if he is still there or not.

Science be damned, I'm still superstitious about numbers (that's Mathematics, not Science), so I don't log in there in hours divisible by three. Don't ask me why - I don't have an answer for that.

Hey - any way you manage your exposure to a highly addictive thing makes sense to me. 

You can write things down offline, into a text file, then just copy and paste them into a message here - or even upload them as a file. I can make this room a file room for you, too, if you would like. 

We've got about 150GB of free space. So, roughly 1000 times what The Amiga Archives had for storage - and ya'all were jealous of THAT space when I first brought it online. :)

Well, transferring memories from FaceBook is turning out to be more work than I expected, so, until I figure out how to streamline it, I'm going to settle for one or two memories a day. I'm not giving up- it just takes me longer than it used to! There were seven shared memories today, so here come two easier ones. First comes FarmVille, the reason I joined FaceBook in the first place. To help my daughter with her farm. I eventually took over both her farm and her husband's farm, and was running two more of my own. You might notice that I'm an obsessive compulsive personality. Anyway, here's a memory from FarmVille eleven years ago, before I ever heard of Donald Trump. It's not really about him and the politicians, but I've been known for stretching things a bit.

Open a tab with Facebook. Just right click the picture and select copy image. 

Then come here, open a message, right click, and select paste.

I think you need Aides for that. 

But - here is what you do... the link worked... but in your Amazon Photos, don't left click on it and select "copy link." 

Right click it, and it will expand, then left click on THAT image, and select "copy image". 

Then come back here and paste.

Well, the problem seems to be that I'm trying to do this from my Amazon Fire tablet, which doesn't have a mouse, and is an Android device. My daughter and I have tried everything we can think of, and haven't been able to simulate a right click. She can do it on her Android phone, but it doesn't work on this cheap tablet.

Not feeling well, but I got out of bed anyway. Let's try this. Yep. Works great from my Dell! Today's memory from FaceBook.

I can't figure out how to right click to insert and post on my Android phone either. It is one of the limitations of Citadel I'm not super happy about. It doesn't play great with mobile devices.

Good morning! I'm feeling better today, since I got my prescription filled for the drug I take to dull the pain from the neuropathy that comes from the legs I lost.  Two doses and most of the nausea is gone!

Happy sixth birthday to my oldest grandson, Layton! This is the memory of my first mention of him here.

From six years ago:

Hey! I'm a grand-dad! I got the word at eleven am, but kept quiet [not easy for me] until I got permission. I just got an email with half a dozen pictures and I'll share one with you. Michelle can fill in the rest when she gets online later. His name is Layton, by the way.

I was able to send that memory from my tablet. Still looking for a workaround. I'll let you know if I find one. I am spoiled by the automated word correction and suggestion feature of this tablet, though, so I need to find some workaround that gives me the features of both systems.

I was going to leave this in the lobby, but I didn't want to disrupt the conversation going on there any more than I already had by leaving a reply there, so I'll see if I can post the link here.
