Subject: Can someone with a Rev5 or Rev3 motherboard measure somehting for me?
![]() | I'm designing a new relocatorwith countersunk output sockets and need this measurement. If someone has a Rev3 or Rev5 and can measure the distance between the legs of the CPU and ROM I'd be grateful. I have aRev 8 which places the Rom farther away from the CPU. Here's one I made that works with Rev6//8, but the outer sockets will hit the Rev 5 Kickrom. [link] [comments] |

Hi everyone! I'm a long time, long distance Amiga-gazer who finally got his hands on a good specimen A500 locally. Taking into consideration my goals with the platform, I'm in a little bit of analysis paralysis trying to figure out what my next steps are to get this into a bundle I can be happy with long term. If you have a minute, I would appreciate any feedback on my thoughts and strategy.
I'm mainly interested in exploring all the games I never got to see on the PC platform, so while I've got all these grand ideas about getting an accelerator and internal SD card storage -- a gotek floppy emulator should be all I really need to get started, right?
Down the road I think it would be fun to use the Amiga as a retro battlestation and do some retro development, BBSing, etc, but adding an accelerator would essentially double the price investment I have in the A500. I'm happy to do it, but unless it'll significantly improve my immediate gaming experience I think I'll hold off until I see what new cards 7bit is getting ready to release.
I'm still waiting for an RGB-SCART cable so I can't tell which kickstart I've got, but assuming it's a 1.3 then the Gotek should be all I need get my feet on the ground running?
e: As an aside, My A500 also came with a trapdoor expansion but it's completely shielded in metal and I'd need to solder it open to get it apart so I'm just GUESSING that it's a 512k expansion since I'm not sure what else it could be. Presumably once I can hook it up to video I'll be able to tell.
Anyway, appreciate any thoughts. I'm happy to dump more money into the A500 but if I can pace it then that's probably sensible.

I've ordered the adapter for the RGB2HDMI (I already have a PiZero waiting for it).
I was planning to get a TF536 but I see it is usually installed with a raiser board on the 68000 which put the board essentially over Denise, which is where the PiZero will be.
Is my assessment wrong? Did anybody try or have better info?
If that is not possible, I could fallback to ACA-Plus, is it a good alternative?
What I'm looking for is a bit more speed+ram, plus an easy way to use a CF/Sd as hard disk. I don't do raytracing or stuff like this with the Amiga :)
