Subject: Putting images on a CF Card A500

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I bought a CF adapter for my A500 and it works, but the only problem is how do i get images to the CF card? i've tried WIN UAE but i can't really get the hang of that really. I can boot into a workbench image but trying to copy a floppy to the CF card ends up in a error.

I use Workbench 1.3, stock a500

If anyone could link me a tutorial or a guide that'd be great

Subject: Recommended PS2 mouse adapters that looks nice but doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I am searching for an adapter that has a nice enclosure or is on a wire like the Mikromys V5 from Individual Computers.

Why don't I just buy that, then? Because it is 55 god damn Euros with shipping!

Any known or good alternatives that is recommended?

Subject: Help me find a childhood game! please!

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hey everyone, I'm hoping you can help me out with a childhood memory that's been nagging at me. I recently rediscovered my old Amiga computer and it's brought back a ton of nostalgia for the games I used to play as a kid. There's one game in particular that I remember loving but just can't recall the name of, so I'm turning to the wonderful internet sleuths of Reddit for help!

Here's what I remember: the opening intro had a green character with a fuzzy, circular head conducting a classical music piece (possibly "Ode to Joy" or "In the Hall of the Mountain King"). As the music builds, cannons start firing and when the song reaches its climax, the green guy explodes (or maybe just combusts). I think the game might have been a platformer, but I'm not certain.

I know this isn't a lot to go on, but if any of this sounds familiar to you, please let me know! I'm hoping to track down this game and experience that childhood magic all over again.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

-Matt

Subject: Recommend an accellerator for A500

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have an Amiga 500 R5 and would like to get an accellerator for it. What do you guys recommend?

I'm not considering the PiMega, as it seems like cheating lol. The accellerator should have an IDE port, and enough RAM to run WHDLoad (4MB or more), and an 020 or better CPU. Bonus points if it has a built-in SD or CF card slot, and can do Kickstart replacement. I'll probably run WB 3.1.4 on it, but would be nice to boot KS 1.3 for old games on disk

I was looking at the Classic 520, but it's in short supply right now and very expensive. I'm seeing TF boards that are much cheaper, which faster and have more RAM.

Subject: How to enable networking support on m68k-amigaos-gcc

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello,

I have installed m68k-amigaos-gcc on my Linux box and trying to compile dropbear.

But it's failing very early at configure stage

checking for u_int32_t... yes checking for struct sockaddr_storage... no checking for socklen_t... no checking for socklen_t equivalent... configure: error: Cannot find a type to use in place of socklen_t

I found out this type definition in several places (clib2, ndk-include/, ...) but how to include them ? What is the clean way ?

By the way, what are these clib2 or ndk ? I can't found any documentation about what they are supposed to do and how to use them.

Thanks

Laurent

Subject: Who misses the sound and anticipation of dialing and connecting to BBS's?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I was just reminiscing about the first modem I ever owned (Supra FAX Modem 14.4). I still have it in a box in storage.

Back in '93, a work friend told me I was missing out on a huge part of the Amiga experience and insisted that I had to buy a modem! So I did. He gave me a couple of local Amiga BBS phone numbers and a copy of NComm. He said one BBS in particular (Procrastination Nation) was good because the sysop was almost always online to chat.

It was a very modest BBS. IIRC, the sysop "Daak" ran it on an Amiga 500 with a pretty small hard drive, so there wasn't much in the way of files. But sure enough, within a few minutes of dialing up for the first time, Daak jumped in and started chatting.

It took me a minute to realize what was happening. That I was typing to another human being. It blew my mind! I told him his was the first BBS I'd dialed into and he immediately asked me if I was aware of the Amiga demoscene. I wasn't. So he took some time to explain X-, Y-, and Z-modem downloads and then introduced me to my very first Amiga demo: Madness II by Anarchy

That sweet sound of dialing up, handshaking, that first experience interacting with another person online, and that first demo... forever burned into my DNA.

Thanks for all the amazing memories, Amiga community.

Subject: A500/A1200 keyboard membrane

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have both a500 and a1200 and some keys on both don’t work. Do both of these Amigas use the same membrane or do I have to buy them for each model? I’m also looking to upgrade kickstart 3.2.2 in my A500 and I believe you have to use a kickstart adapter? I tried searching kickstart adapter on eBay but results just show kickstart switcher so dies switcher work?
