Subject: Tank mouse repaired!

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I picked up an original tank mouse on ebay that needed some repair...

First problem - one button didn't work at all and the other had a weak click sound. I ordered replacement button switches from Amiga Kit which arrived pretty quickly. I couldn't find my good solder sucker but I had another cheap one that came with some other kit - turned out to be useless and went in the trash. I removed the old button switches by snipping the legs, the leg-remains removed with a soldering iron and needle, and the new button switches then pushed in and soldered easily. Now the mouse has a strong click sound!

Second problem - one of the screws was missing. It turned out to be surprisingly hard to find screws locally that go into plastic. I finally found screws with the same head, same thread, just slightly longer with a point tip. I had one original screw for reference so was able to grind the new screws down to the same length with an angle grinder. It worked - the result was indistinguishable with the original screw.

Mouse is back together and working!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a mouse pad?

Subject: Can you mount a mac system folder in FSUAE in the same way as I can 'add PC drives' on WinUAE?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I found this very useful copying stuff across from to WinUAE but I cannot seem to find an equivalent option in FS-UAE. Does it exist? I've tried looking on the FSUAE site as well but there is nothing obvious?

Subject: SVGA Graphics?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello, I noticed in comparison to some of the earlier PC EGA games and even many VGA games that Amiga held up pretty well against PC but playing Monkey Island, and Sierra games, it feels there is a lack of palette or less colors and some animation. I noticed the same with Wing Commander although the CD32 version does hold up better. Was there any reason for this? I think maybe I am misunderstanding the 4096 colors. Did Amiga have something similar to SVGA?

Subject: A500 mini isn’t recognising my wireless Logitech K400 Plus Keyboard 😔 Please help!

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

After doing some research online I decided to buy the Logitech K400 wireless keyboard with built in mouse as, from what I’d read, this was fully compatible and the best priced option.

I’ve plugged the dongle in and switched the keyboard on but nothing 😔 I’ve tested it with my smart tv though and it works fine on that.

I must admit I HAVE NOT UPDATED THE FIRMWARE (due to not having a computer to download the update on) so I a still on 1.0.0). However the update notes don’t seem to mention adding keyboard functionality anyway?

I was just wondering if anyone who has this keyboard can confirm it works after an update before I return it.

Many Thanks!

Subject: Dead a500 rev 5

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi all, just finished up my office and was hoping to christen the room by playing some amiga games, things were off to a rough start it would not boot and I was getting a blinking green light, after removing the expansion ram it came to life but I could not play due to ram limitations.

I have the tf530 installed as well, after doing some digging I realized I did not change the jumper for 1mb ram, I cut the trace and soldered the correct pad, same issue green blinking. So I pulled the ram same thing, but slower. So I replaced my cpu with the stock to see if it did not like the tf530 added ram. Nope still blinking.

I said some games are better then none… undid the mod removed the expansion ram reinstalled my tf card and bam dead… lights are very dim and don’t come on, screen flickers but nothing else. Caps lock key does not work nor keyboard reset.. Put stock cpu back in, same. Cpu Agnes, Paula, denise, get warm and I think the two cia’s get warm but hard to tell.. but Gary that jerk is stone cold… So I did some digging around and the reset line seems to not be right. R713 ne555 side shows the reset happen but npn transistor side does not show the reset. Checking on pin 18 on the cpu same no reset.. not sure if this is a red herring or what… Unfortunately I have no other chips to test with, if I have to by some I’m fine but for testing would prefer not to spend cash if I don’t have to..

Thanks all for reading my sad rant. Any help would be appreciated!
