[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

WinUAE makes it seem easy to create an ADF, and I get a nice Amiga disc icon. When I transfer it to my PC USB stick, tho, it comes out as a “drawer” not an ADF file. What am I doing wrong?

Subject: A1000's in my attic...and memories.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've been cleaning out the attic and came across two A1000's.

None of the floppies I have seem to work (or maybe the drives don't?) - but they boot from the A500 hard drive (massive 20MB drive).

I haven't done anything Amiga related for literally decades. Pretty cool though that there are still Amiga enthusiasts.

The A1000 helped launch my career in software engineering -- I used it thru college and got my first programming job (at ASDG Inc.) because of my experience with it.

Anyone remember ASDG? (ADPro - Art Department Professional).

It was such an amazing machine for the time. The only other machine that I was so impressed with when I got to play with it was a Silicon Graphics workstation - also a super awesome machine for its time.

I'm now wondering what to do with them. Is there a market for these?

Subject: Help! A500 Mini wont recognise som keypresses on connected keyboard.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

So i connected my full size keyboard to the a500 and tried to play "Pinball Dreams" at the table- select your supposed to use F1-F4 keys but they wont work so i used the gamepad to select table and all other buttons work, "down arrow" "L-shift" and "R-shift" all do what they should. Your also supposed to use the F1-F4 keys when choosing number of players but it wont recognise it there either.

I got a full-sized keyboard with swedish layout.

Anybody else run in to the same problem? Anybody got a solution?

Thx

Subject: 100+ disks but want digital/emulation option

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I’ve just dusted off my old Amiga 600, including a hundred of so floppy disks’ worth of games. However, I want to digitise/rip these and play them on my TV downstairs via an emulator. I could buy an Amiga Mini (or whatever they are called) or set up a Raspberry Pi with RetroPie or similar. What is the best and / or easiest way to do this?

I cobbled together a Video Toaster 4000/Flyer setup

My interest in Amiga is video/graphics/music and the vast majority of information out there seems to be more interested in the gaming aspect of the platform. I have stumbled blindly through getting this setup together and functioning and figured I’d do my small part in adding to the communal information base. Any recommendations on the best place to add my findings to best be accessible to others who may be interested in building their own?

Subject: Amiga 500 Red screen when installing ROM on motherboard instead of using switcher

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi everyone! I'm new to the world of owning an Amiga, so please forgive me if this is the millionth time you've seen this!

So I bought my first Amiga 500, the elusive system I would have loved in the late 80's. The system came fully functional, but I still opened it, as I may delve into installing a pistorm in the future. I noticed it had a rom switcher installed in it, and it only has one rom installed, a 2.0 Kickstart rom. So I cannot switch anything.

Since the switcher will be too high and be in the way of the potential pistorm, I thought I would remove it. But when I install the kickstart rom directly into the socket, I get a red screen on bootup. The notch is lined up properly, and the pins all appear ok. Everything works when I put the switcher back into play.

So my only guess is possibly a dirty socket? And the long stiff pins of the switcher simply make better contact? There does not appear to be any physical mod required for this switcher. Other than the little pin that clips to pin 11of Paula.

Switcher is a DKB Multistart II (1991)

My Amiga is a stock 500 with 512K, Rev5 board.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
