Subject: XCOPY with FD0 and external GOTEK - problem. Help

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

XCOPY help. Guys after 30 years tried to copy with XCOPY - source disk from GOTEK df1 to internal df0. Putting brand new floppy disk in DF0. XCOPY from DF1 to DF0. Start. All green. Copy is done. Check folders all good. Checkdisk all good. But the newly copied disk wont boot from DF0 (just command line at start). It boots from gotek adf fine. Any help? Tried do copy adf XCOPY, Amigatestkit - same story. They wont boot.

I did a copy with xcopy from DF0 to DF0. Internal to internal (through RAM option in XCOPY). This disk works. So floppy is fine. The issue is with copying from gotek... something goes wrong if you try to copy from gotek to fdd FD0. Idk why the data is there - veryfied.

I use new DYSAN floppopies. MF2HD dos formatted.

Subject: Ultimate Amiga mod list for a running playlist

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I was listening to a mod posted in another thread ( ProTracker playing Space-Song (Jesper Kyd) - YouTube ) and it so motivational, the kind of thing I love to listen to whilst running! What mods would you guys put in the ultimate high energy playlist? Does one exist on YT or a streaming service I'm not aware of. Stuff like the Lotus theme, Turrican 2 tracks etc, also demos etc - Look forward to your answers! Whilst things like SOTB are great tracks I'm after power tunes lmao

Subject: GVP Serie II question

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello,

I have some question related to the GVP Serie-II installed on my Amiga 4000.

  • when this care is installed, SysInfo shows a performance of 0.43 related to a stock A4000/040. Is it something wrong ? I suppose it's a ZorroII cards that is slowing down my 4000 but I duno why.

  • I can't access to its disk content. Anything to do on the system or is it because this disk is dead ?

Thanks

Subject: Pistorm

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi I was looking at the pistorm on one of the amiga hardware websites, it said something about requiring Rom 2.0 or higher. Does that mean that in order to use a pistorm I need a higher than stock rom in my amiga 500 or is it just bunk?

Amiga 500 r6a mod questions

Broke into my Amiga to make the 1mb chip ram mod. What’s this mess around JP4? Has the previous owner done something there?

Also has (is there a way to tell even?) this been recapped? Those caps are shiny clean looking.

Subject: Amiga 500 Mini - Alien Breed 3D question

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I'm more of a C64 person and I'm new to the Amiga. So I got the Amiga 500 Mini and tried to play Alien Breed 3D which seems to rely on keyboard input for opening doors and changing weapons. Apparently you open doors with [space] but it just does nothing for me on the virtual keyboard or on a connected USB keyboard (which works on the C64 Mini and Maxi). I collect the first three ammo packs but can't even open the first door .... any hints?

I know this sound stupid, but I just can even open the first door. Any hints? It is driving me nuts.

Subject: Box of amiga floppies free to a good home

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have about 25 loose floppy disks of amiga games and software. Just pay the cost of shipping and they're all yours. I'm in the USA. They came with my PAL amiga 500, so I'm not sure if they'll work with an ntsc amiga or not.

I'll add a full list when I'm done cleaning up, but i do know there's some compilation disks as well as individual game disks.

Send me a pm and not a chat if interested!

Subject: BITDEF?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I see this is the library headers, whatever it does it seems that it's not working for me. Can someone explain how to address the different options in this:

MEMF_ANY EQU 0 ;Any type of memory will do BITDEF MEM,PUBLIC,0 BITDEF MEM,CHIP,1 BITDEF MEM,FAST,2 BITDEF MEM,LOCAL,8 ;Memory that does not go away at RESET BITDEF MEM,24BITDMA,9 ;DMAable memory within 24 bits of address BITDEF MEM,KICK,10 ;Memory that can be used for KickTag stuff BITDEF MEM,CLEAR,16 ;AllocMem: NULL out area before return BITDEF MEM,LARGEST,17 ;AvailMem: return the largest chunk size BITDEF MEM,REVERSE,18 ;AllocMem: allocate from the top down BITDEF MEM,TOTAL,19 ;AvailMem: return total size of memory BITDEF MEM,NO_EXPUNGE,31 ;AllocMem: Do not cause expunge on failure

I realize that each of these is pointing to a different bit acting as a condition flag. However, if I try to move "MEMF_CLEAR" into D1, D1 equals this: 0x0dedbad, while I'm expecting this: 0x00008000.

Subject: Include problems

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I'm using the amiga assembly extension for visual code studio. It works fine for the most part, however, when I try to include "intuition/intuition.i", it presents these errors:

error 10 in line 45 of "include\graphics\copper.i": number or identifier expected included from line 7 of "include\graphics\view.i" included from line 13 of "include\intuition\intuition.i" included from line 9 of "j:\Amiga Programming\Amiga Password Lock.s" >copinit_sprstrtup RS.B 2*[[2*8*2]+2+[2*2]+2] error 1011 in line 45 of "include\graphics\copper.i": identifier expected included from line 7 of "include\graphics\view.i" included from line 13 of "include\intuition\intuition.i" included from line 9 of "j:\Amiga Programming\Amiga Password Lock.s" >copinit_sprstrtup RS.B 2*[[2*8*2]+2+[2*2]+2] error 68 in line 98 of "include\intuition\preferences.i": repeatedly defined symbol <CUSTOM> included from line 384 of "include\intuition\intuition.i" included from line 9 of "j:\Amiga Programming\Amiga Password Lock.s" >CUSTOM EQU $40

Any fixes? I'm really sick of having to manually go through the header to find the things I need.
