Subject: Help me remember the location of a Toronto Commodore dealer...

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I know this is a shot in the dark...

I'm trying to remember the location of a small computer store in Toronto (or GTA), that I visited a few times in the early 90s.

I think they were a little out of the way. I only ever visited when a friend was driving and I tagged along.

They sold PC stuff but they had prominent displays of Commodore computers and accessories.

I remember that instead of having a large plate glass window at the front, they had these smaller glassed in nooks, kind of like a jewelry store. <- I'm hoping that the unique windows will trigger someone's memory.

I remember thinking that the fancy exterior was out of step with the interior.

The last few times I went they had 4D Boxing playing in a front window.

I also have this memory that the building (possibly a strip mall) was below street level and the ramp to get into the parking lot was fairly steep.

Anybody have an idea?

I'm wondering if there is a list of Amiga dealers from that era?

Subject: People pirating running Amiga magazine

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Sadly it seems that people are starting to share and pirate issues of PDFs Amiga Addict Magazine, even to the point of trying to sell it online. It's a community-based magazine thats managed to get into the shops in 2022 with tiny profit margins. The more you pirate it the less chance it has of surviving. Please support and buy the magazine or you might not have it in the future. Please let us know if you spot anything please email magazine@amiga-addict.com

Subject: A500 - Installed Gotek. Now I guru.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I recently received an Amiga A500. I switched out the floppy drive with a Gotek I got off amazon. I did not flash firmware or anything. I formatted the USB drive to FAT32, copied over Flashfloppy AUTOBOOT.HFE and the HXCSDFE.CFG files tto the USB root. I then copied some ADFs to a folder. I inserted the USB in to the Gotek and booted the Amiga. I got a guru meditation. I did not copy down the code; not sure if it helps. Anyways, if I leave the USB out I get the insert disk screen, so at least it's not completely screwed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Subject: Amiga 500 Composite Video Out resolution (UK)?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Can anyone tell me the output resolution of the Amiga 500 using the composite modulator?

I'm in the UK if that matters.

I've just got my childhood Amiga 500 down from my parents loft and it works great on some smaller TVs around the house.

But on the bigger 4K TV, it doesn't like the signal. Out of range it says. My eventual plan is to have all my old devices connected up into some kind retro scaling device like the the RetroTink to help a bit with the visuals on a bigger modern TV. These upscalers I think only accept certain signals - I know you can't use a PS1 with them for example, but other consoles like NES, SNES etc are fine.

I know I could just emulate, and I have, but it's a special thrill using my actual childhood consoles and games.

Cheers.

Subject: amiga cd32 terrible fire 328 scart to hdmi converter

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Thank you for taking the time to look at my post! i purchase a amiga cd32 with terrible fire 328 and a scart to hdmi coverter. i have to direct way to test the scart output so i got a scart to hdmi converter. when plugged in it give a dark greenish screen, and when unplugged it give the normal blue no signal screen. when plugged into AV composite it works fine. Is there something else i need to use the scart out from the terrible fire 328? is it incompatible with ntsc? thanks in advance.
