Subject: How rare is my Amiga 2000?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have an old Amiga 2000 laying around with its original keyboard and mouse. According to Deskthority, the keyboards with Cherry switches (which I have) are way rarer than the later models. Seeing the prices the more common ones go for on Ebay, do I have a super expensive keyboard? And since that is also most likely the original keyboard for my computer, it's also probably an early model. The computer's serial number is DA 4 030400 and it's motherboard revision 4.1. All the chips also have date codes from mid to late 1987.

Subject: Amiga games bundled with my first 500

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I bought my first amiga around 1990. It came with a bunch of very strange and dated games. Not sure if it was a standard 'pack' or just something the shop put together. The games were in old style large cassette tape sized boxes. The most memorable was shufflepuck cafe. There was a very dodgy galic footbal game and a very poor medieval adventure game, andpossibly a couple of others.

Can anyone confirm if this was a pack and what the other ganes might have been?

Subject: Amiga 1000 kickstart board - where'd the instructions go?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

hi!

I found http://retrospection.pl/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Amiga-1000-Kick-Howto.pdf a while back, and i've gone to get some boards made.

but the website is busted now, and it's not in archive.org .

Does anyone have a copy of that pdf? I can't find it anywhere!

Thx!

Subject: Amiga 500 chips?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I had an amiga back in the day (I'm in the US) and one of my hobbies now is to build electronics and stuff. I saw that you can order an after-market Amiga 500 PCB now... which is great, I'd love to take that project on. But it looks like I missed my chance? All the Amiga's I'm seeing on sale are... ridiculously expensive. One popped up on an auction site the other day, I started to bid, but the price immediately shot up to nearly $600. I'm not a "collector" and honestly don't want to take a true vintage amiga from the community... I get it. But these proprietary chips are a problem. It looks like those are extremely over priced as well. Is anyone working on reproductions? Or... is there maybe an Arduino chip emulation project or something? This would be a fun project but I don't want to end up spending over $1000 on it. lol

Subject: Looking for a name for a game

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi, my cousin and I used to play Amiga some 30+ years ago. I am looking for a name for a game that is very much like "dogs of war", but it is not that game. In the game I am looking for, they scream a little louder than in "dogs of war". Anybody have a clue?

I still have the setup from 1989 or so.

Does the opening theme always play the same? I seem to recall, it sometimes played ever so slightly differently, but I always just dismissed this as imagination. Any input on this?

Subject: What kind of power cord do I need for my Amiga 2000?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi folks, I recently unearthed my old Amiga 2000 from my parents' garage after 25 years of storage in the Texas heat.

Besides getting a recommendation on the right power cord, what other caveats do you have before I fire it up (and I might mean that literally because I don't want to cause any fires).

Thanks for your support.
