I grew up with Amiga's (500 then 4000) that I unfortunately did not keep. I just bought an A1200, I want to watch some old demo's, play games and maybe do some assembly programming again.
Working on recapping it, ordered a gotek, sd card+adapter, os 3.2.1.
I want to get an an accelerator card and I can't decide which to get. Please help :)
Prices are what it would cost shipped to me (US) and based options I chose for mem etc.:
ACA1234 | $404 |
---|---|
Tsunami1230 | $237 |
TF1230 (128MB) | $193 |
TF1260 (LC) | $350 |
TF1260 (68060 rev.6 sourced from ebay) | $603 |
Vampire 1200 V2 | $522 |
Any other cards I missed that are in-stock?
What should be the considerations? Compatibility, speed, ongoing support?
TF1260 LC is tempting, but was is lost in terms of compatibility compared to a 30 card?
How do they stack up performance wise?
Thank you!

I’ve got a rev 6a 500. Currently plugged into the same CRT TV as my other retro consoles.
I just found out I can upgrade my OCS Denise to an ECS Denise very simply.
Commodore monitors don’t show up often in New Zealand and when they do they get expensive fast.
VGA monitors on the other hand, the CRT sort come up cheap a lot.
I’ve hunted the internet and am now confused. What else would I need, beyond an upgrade to Kickstart, to make this work?

When I play Settlers, I burn all the enemy Castles down but the level just keeps on going. What do I have to do to complete the two first levels?

Hi all, first-time poster here, so do let me know if I'm violating any rules that I overlooked. Do also tell me if this is an issue that has been answered in another thread. I searched and didn't manage to find anything.
I was given two later-model Amiga 500s the other week and have recently gotten around to testing them out. Neither have hard drives or expansions. When I start the machines up, I am greeted by the familiar prompt to insert a Workbench 1.3 disk. I do so, hear the floppy drive doing a bit of work, see the LED light up, and the screen goes white. After about three seconds, give or take, the prompt to insert a Workbench 1.3 disk appears again. This happens with both computers. I have four workbench 1.3 disks, including one brand-new one, and a Workbench 1.2 disk. I get this error with all of them, except for one (not the brand-new one). The one that almost works brings me to the blue UI, with a window that has the heading "System request." The window gives the error "Error validating disk. Disk is unreadable," and gives me the options "Retry" and "Cancel."
What could be the issue here? I've cleaned the heads of the floppy drives. The capacitors visually look okay, and the mechanicals seem to move smoothly.
Do let me know if any other info is needed here. Thanks in advance for your help!
