Subject: A2000 hardware upgrade path options

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have an A2000 new to me, looking for upgrade paths that maintain the feel of the machine. I have a A2091, supra 8mb card, and some tacked on flicker fixer thing. I'm looking at options that maintain the vintage feel of the machine, and maintains compatibility. I'm using it for mostly old games, but some other types of software.

I know of this sort of stuff:

pistorm, vampire, ZZ9000, RGB2HDMI and a few random bits.

Should i look at one of these CPLD/FPGA solutions, and get the additional things they offer, or stick with more traditional accelerators?

I like the idea of having a single video output, rather than swapping monitor inputs back and forth.

The zz9000 looks really interesting, but it's expensive and supposedly breaks compatibility.

Subject: Need help finding cables to connect PAL a1200 to NTSC Commodore 2002 Monitor

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

More pics in link: https://imgur.com/a/VLrFWjV

I recently got extremely lucky and found a Commodore 2002 monitor. I have been using a PVM for the last few years, but I really want to use this official Commodore monitor.

I could really use some guidance, especially in the way of direct links to exactly what I need. Links would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. Already purchased several cables that have not worked, and spend so much time waiting for them to be shipped from the UK to the USA. Cables available in the USA preferred, but I'm willing to buy from the UK.

I need a typical 23 pin Female cable on one side that goes Into the Amiga. The monitor side I am confused about because the manual mentions a 23 pin to 9 pin adapter.

So does the monitor side get a 23pin with 9pin female adapter, or do I just get a cable that already 9 pin female on the monitor size?

Also, the manual mentions that I need other audio cables.

  1. Audio cable with identical phono jacks on either end.

  2. Y-Adapter Cord - No idea what this is even for.

Subject: A1200 / PSU woes

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Recently had my A1200 sent off to be recapped. After a few weeks of getting it back, it stopped working. I was using an old Zydec PSU from the 90s, so thought this could be the problem. Luckily I had a friend close by with an original A1200 PSU, and he came round. The A1200 seemed to work fine with his PSU.

So I decided to buy a Meanwell RT-50B and replace the internals of the Zydec with this. I'm not experienced with this sort of thing, but it seemed pretty trivial. With everything hooked up, I tested +5V, +12V and -12V against ground. All looked good, so I connected it up... nothing.

Going back to the PSU, I don't see any issues with the wiring - the only difference from the online guides is that the Amiga side cable on mine has a big thick earth sheilding in addition to the smaller yellow earth within the core. Both of these go to earth as shown.

The only thing that confuses me is that readings from the multimeter when I test pins against the earth shielding (both the pin and and the metal surround, and the terminals on the Meanwell. Here I get readings of:

5V: 0

Ground: -5V

12V: 7V

-12V : -17V

Is that right? Or does this suggest a problem with the PSU?

Subject: Amiga Emulation PSP

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi to all. Does someone use a PSP to emulate Amiga? I want to play games on the go , so I tried the latest ( I think it is) PSPUAE 0.90 beta 4 , but even messing with configs I can't get the games to run properly. Stunt car racer for example the best I can get is full speed but choppy sound .

Does someone have some config profile recommendations?

Thx in advance

Hi guys. My amiga 500 mouse is not going down. I need to pull it up in the air and quickly move across mouse pad to move down. It moves down but not in normal use. Left right up works fine I think.

Any ideas? Ball is clean etc.
