Did anyone manage to run the famous demo on the new mini console? I have downloaded WHDload version from http://www.whdload.de/demos/Spaceballs_StateOfTheArt.html but it is not loading for me. I know there are videos on youtube but for sentimental reasons I would love to run 57kb file and see and hear the incredible stuff Spaceballs created 30 years ago rendered in real time...
Thanks for any tips

Subject: Couple of tips from tinkering tonight with the A500 Mini (controllers and getting WHDLoad games working)
It turns out that the version of whdload_db.xml they ship with the WHDLoad package is extremely out of date, which is why you see black screens in a lot of games.
To fix this, download the newest version from here: https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/blob/master/whdboot/game-data/whdload_db.xml
Click the Download button then right click -> Save Page As/Save As and put it in “THEA500 > whdboot > game-data” on your USB drive. I advise making a backup of the old one first.
After doing this, every single game I tried ran first time! Including New Zealand Story, Monkey Island etc.
My other tip is that if you have an old Xbox 360 controller gathering dust, it makes a perfect controller replacement. All the buttons work the same (left button is menu, right is home etc) and although the main button colours are different the symbols map to the A500 controller and they’re in the same place so you won’t have to learn anything new if you’re already used to the A500 one.
More importantly, the analogue thumb sticks work, so you basically have a joystick now too. Playing Chaos Engine was so much better using one of these - it was like night and day.
Apparently a PS4 controller also works in wired mode but the Xbox One controller does not for some reason. I’ve not tested this myself yet though.

Subject: It was a lot of work, but we managed to complete issue #20
Lots of refurbs that I'd rather avoid and lots of separate stick and button styles but I'm a fan of the python style button and stick in one hand.
USB interface for an a500 mini.
Cheers.

Subject: It's 2022 and I'm in the U.S. reading old newsletter floppies from the 80's/90's demo/crack scene on a an emulated Amiga hosted by a UK tax payer subsidized "hobby" computer on an RGB modded NTSC TV... and then sharing it with Amiga enthusiasts bc it's been gone for decades.
So I just got my Mini. I ordered a Stick with it. Formated it on FAT32. Put the WHD and WHD Games folder on it. Put some Games in the Games folder.
When I turn on my Mini I can't see the stick anywhere. What am I doing wrong? Is the Stick wrong?

Subject: ADFs not mounting properly with AmigaOS 3.2 - "Uninitialized" Volume label
Hi folks, just installed a fresh copy of AmigaOS3.2 on my Amiga 1200 rev 1D board and it all works fine. I've got my older smaller CF card that had 3.1 installed on it, from this same Amiga, with all my programs and WHLoad set up and decided to mount it via my PCMCIA slot and it appears on Workbench but with greyed out icon and Uninitialized volume label.
I thought, fine, I can extract the files via UAE emulator so I got my trusty 4GB CF card that I normally transfer files onto my Amiga and put some ADFs onto it to get some things tested. The CF card mounts fine as CF0: and I can access the files. Most files work fine but when trying to mount most ADF files I get the same problem DA0:Uninitialized, DA1:Uninitialized, DA2:Uninitialized and so on.
Most of these ADFs are coming off my Mac. I have an ACA1221 accelerator and an Indivision AGA MK2 card installed outputting to a Dell via DVI.
Any help would be appreciated.

Subject: Just spent the whole day making WB3 go dark mode
So, every time I exit from a usb game, it hangs Also, it is possible to use a usb hub to expand the usb ports or does it create more problems?

I’ve got a couple of upgrade and repair jobs planned for my Amiga a500 (rev 6a, ECS). One is swapping out the tank mouse LMB switch. Another is the JP2 mod for memory expansion (I’ve got the boobip board).
My question is: is it important to use any particular type of solder when working on these old machines? Eg leaded? EU tends to use non leaded now but I don’t know about the 80s (nor where the uk sold Amiga’s were assembled). Rosin core? Anything else to consider?
Thanks!

Okay, I got the A500 mini today and whenever I use the control pad it works for about 30 seconds and then cuts out. If I unplug it from the USB and put it back in again it works for another 30 seconds. Does anyone else have this problem or do I have a defective pad?

Can one of the mods sticky a A500 mini thread so everyone can post their garbage support questions that they are too lazy to ask the company that sold the device and is supposed to support it, in there instead of filling up the whole subreddit with support questions?
