Subject: I've written about making some serial/parallel loopback adaptors for easy diagnostics using Keir Fraser's excellent Amiga Test Kit software. I hope it's of use or interest š
![]() | I used to play a demo of this back in the day. Great little four-player tank game. The full registered version is very hard to find these days - does anyone have it in their adf archives? It'd be so nice to finally see the whole game after all these years. [link] [comments] |

I have an Amiga 500 that I have recapped and was working fine prior to what I am about to describe. I got and installed a boot selector switch so I could switch between my internal floppy and a Gotek connected via an external cable. I also have an ACA 500 + connected. When I have the switch set to use the external connector (Gotek) as the boot drive, it no longer seems to see the internal floppy at all. If switch is set to boot from internal floppy, the gotek is suddenly invisible. And suggestions? do I need to move a jumper or something on the GoTek?
The reason this is such a big deal is I have tons of discs from the days when I had my A4000 and an A600 that I want to convert to adf files and try and save. but if it can't see both drives at once. I ain't copyin nothin. :(
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I sometimes see Amiga 4000 on sale, in price ranges between 2k and 4k ā¬.
I get that it is one of the rarest Amigas, but are those machines really worth that much money?
Is there any advantage a 4000 has for retro computing and gaming compared to, for instance, an Amiga 1200?
I understand the 4000 has much better performance, but what software from that time period would need such performance?
The only use case I could think of is 3d rendering and maybe Alien Breed 3D II?
What would be considered an acceptable price for an Amiga 4000? Is it really the 2-4k?
Thanks!
Edit
Dang just noticed the title, 4000 not 400 obviously ;)

I have been trying to revive my childhood Amiga 600 and Iām really struggling with it reading floppy disks. Using xcopy, I get red 2s and 5s on the upper side only and green 0s on the lower side. The same behaviour is experienced on every floppy disk I try.
This is what I have done:
Iāve recapped the board (Iām no expert but have done my best and have recapped other consoles in the past with success). However, it hadnāt been booted up in 20+ years so I recapped it before switching it on so donāt know if it was working fine prior to the recap.
Iāve tried an external floppy drive and I have the same behaviour.
Iāve tested the floppy cable for continuity on both ends and itās fine.
Iāve tested the voltage at the mobo and that seems fine (changed 2 caps on the psu too as they were needed).
Iāve purchased āworkingā floppies and I have the same issue with reading them.
Iāve cleaned the heads on both the internal and external floppy drives and Iāve changed the caps on the internal floppy.
Iāve installed diagrom and done a cia test and no issues found.
Iāve purchased a working Amiga 600 and have tested the working floppies that Iāve purchased and they have worked on this one.
Iāve tested my external drive on the newer Amiga and that has worked fine.
Iāve tested the working floppy drive from the new Amiga on the old Amiga and Iāve experienced the same problem.
This suggests that itās not the drives or the disks thatās the problem but something on the motherboard. Iām at my wits end as I really want to get my childhood Amiga fully up and running and using floppies because, you know, nostalgia š. I have a cf card and adapter that works fine on my childhood amiga so thatās an option if I really canāt get to the bottom of it.
Thank you in advance.

Subject: Amikit and Pimiga 2.0 - Would like your opinion
I've went on a whole Amiga emulation kit after I realized there's no way in hell I can afford an old A1200 without breaking my bank. So I got a Raspberry pi 400 and went with both Pimiga 2.0 then tried AmiKit.
Both are impressive! I'm not going to compare between the two - I love an appreciate all the work they both put into these packages and simply impressed with the massive amount of effort and work put into both.
If anyone has any hints on how to find more software for both, let me know!
I just can't get over how I was able to login to BBSes. So cool! Memories are just flowing back.
Anyway - advice on what I can do next is more than welcome. I'm lovin what I'm seeing here though.
