So the disk drive is not working in my dads Amiga 500, no big deal can get one for 20 bucks. But then I found out that if you switch CIA chips you can see if thats the issue. To my knowledge one CIA chip controlles the Disk drive and the other image and keyboard and so on. When I switched the CIA chips I didnt get a picture on the screen anymore but it didnt fix the disk drive. So my question is if both the disk drive and the CIA chip is broken? Beacuse I get picture with one but not the other.

So I found my dads old AMIGA 500. I want to get it to work again. I get picture from it so know that one of the CIA chips work. Whan I switched the CIA chips I didnt get a picture on screen. So I guess one of the CIA chips is broken? The disk drive is also not working. Even when I switched the CIA chips. It is not clicking. The wheel spins when I start it up and insert a disk. The motor only spins when I power it on. No disk light. My guess is the disk drive is dead. The upper head is also almost falling appart. So one of the CIA chips is probably broken, the disk drive is broken. Anything else that can cause this issues?

So I finally bought an untested Amiga 500. Turns out the thing is from Germany originally so a PAL region. I have a few questions.
I bought a brand new PSU for it and the thing does actually give me a power LED when turned on which is nice but I have no way of knowing what's going on because of PAL differences. What should I be looking for?
Secondly. The bottom case is absolutely shattered from shipping. I'm working with the seller on that but wanted any recommendations for a new case.
Third, this thing didn't come with a floppy so any floppy alternatives are appreciated.
Being in the USA, these things are difficult to source and I don't know all of the semantics about getting a PAL variety working over here. Any help with appreciated.

I've been trying to figure this one out on my own, but I'm coming up empty handed...
I've gotten my Amiga 1000 pretty much working except for one issue, some of the keys do not output the right character when pressed with shift, without shift, with caps lock on, caps lock off. The letters and numbers seem to work fine, but I'm getting [ : ] instead of [ > ] as an example.
Would this be due to a chip on the circuit board for the keyboard, or an internal chip to the Amiga 1000?
I manually tested the cord already and eliminated that from the equation.

I bought a Lola L1500 genlock cheap, but unfortunately it did not include any cables. The video input on the genlock is a 15 pin D-SUB, same as on L1000 and L2000, but I haven't been able to find the pinout for this connector.
If nobody knows I guess it's reverse engineering time!
