Subject: Connecting Amiga to Dell 2001FP monitor

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

So I am trying to connect my Amiga 600 to a 15khz compatible Dell 2001FP monitor.

I bought a Amiga DB23 RGB to VGA cable to connect to the monitor's VGA/D-Sub input. That didn't work at all, just got a "cannot display" message on monitor screen. Connecting via composite works fine though, so I know this monitor is compatible with 15 kHZ.

Any suggestions? Has anyone been able to connwct their Amiga to an LCD monitor directly via a RGB-to-VGA cable?

Subject: AsmOne on Amiga

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

HI Team,

Having problems getting AsmOne running (through WINUAE atm but want to work on the real hardware as well)

I downloaded AsmOne 1.20, extracted it from .lha and made a .ADF folder, threw it in there and booted into workbench, and then selected it. I get the "Please insert sources into any drive" error and then i cancel and it opens. https://imgur.com/a/KNbYlAK

When I try to allocate memory it just ignores me and keeps asking. Been googling for awhile now to get it running and i'm jsut going in circles. Trying to get AsmTwo to run was a nightmare as well that i never finished.

Some better guidence would be appreaited.

P.S I realise that there is the VSCode extension, which i have running for VBCC in C and just trying to get the 68k assembly to work, but i'd also like to get this working as well.

Subject: How to start with the Amiga

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi guys

I’m very new to the Amiga world ! For some reason I saw a YouTube video about the Amiga and it’s been with me for a few days now: I would like to get into it (maybe for nostalgia reasons, don’t know). I never owned an Amiga when I was young, I grew up with IBM computers (my dad worked at IBM) and I had a few pentiums with Win95, etc. I also had some computers with Linux: Slackware and Redhat mainly.

My question to this awesome community: what would be the best way to acquire an Amiga that I can just use and dabble with. I’ve been searching eBay for an Amiga but it’s kinda difficult to know what is good or just plain bad. I’m good with Software but to deal with hardware issues is not my strong point.

Money is not really an issue but at the same time I don’t want to spend 2k on an Amiga x5000 for something just to have fun and explore. Ideally I’d like to reproduce the old school feeling while being able to play most games and have somewhat of a good experience and performance.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

Subject: Need help with Gotek on an Amiga 600

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Bought a Gotek with HxC firmware and I'm having some troubles.

I've dropped some adf files on a USB stick and was able to assign them to slots and choose a slot to be used on next boot.

However, once I do this, I don't know how to return to the slot selection screen. It always runs the slot I've chosen previously.

The help screen on the HxC Floppy Simulator states that I can return to the slot selection screen by pressing the left Amiga key + M, but I've tried it several times without luck.

Am I missing something?

Subject: Is there a way to make a generic image to put on different size CF/SD cards?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I made an image for my 4 GB CF card, so I can use a different file system to support large partitions.

Then I made one for my 8 GB SD card; and now I would like to try with a 32 GB mechanical drive; although I don't really want to start all over and prep the drive again; so I was wondering if there is a way for me to make an image that I can flash on a drive or a CF card and then expand the partitions.

In this way I can prep my WB drive that support large partitions, and then create as many partitions as needed, based on how big the card I use is.

Can this be done? Kinda like what you do when you install the OS on a raspberry pi; which take few GB, and then it expand to occupy the whole capacity of the card

Got a cd rom attached to my A1200 using 3.2; and would like to mount a cd from a magazine.

Do you need to install the CD file system or 3.2 has that already?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I few weeks ago I picked up my first Amiga. It is a 500 with an extra floppy drive and the A570 CD interface. I am in the process of trying to repair the damage done to the memory expansion board by the leaky battery.

I was wondering if there are any recommended books/tutorials on how to use the Amiga since mine didn't come with any documentation other than the manual for the monitor and a book on programming Amiga Basic.
