Subject: Wireless PCMCIA card issue

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I recently bought a Orinoco wireless PCMCIA card for my A1200 and tried everything i can find using google to get it to connect to my wireless router to no avail. The only things i cant try are using solid WPA and in straight B mode as my router only has the option to use mixed. So before i fork out for a router that supports the use of single WPA and B mode as anyone got any idea's i could try or had the same issues and managed to get theirs working ?

The card is working with my Amiga 1200 as its found it but when i run Wirelessmanager prism2.device it does try to connect to the router but times out and the only thing i can think of is mixed WPA and mode.

Subject: Could someone please help? I would genuinely appreciate it.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi folks. Brand new to the wonder that is all things Amiga, and just purchased Amiga Forever (the premium edition), and despite my best efforts to search out the answers on my own, I have struck out so far :-/ I specifically need step by step directions on how to get a game to run.The formats that I have my games in are rp9 and hdf. Don't be afraid to talk to me like I am three. That is probably for the best, lol. Thanks in advance.

Subject: Amiga CD32 led colours? Please help

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Can you confirm Amiga CD32 LEDs being: - upper: green, power - lower: amber, drive activity

My doubt is about lower being red instead of amber. Are there different revisions like for A500 and A500+? Thanks in advance for your help

Subject: Cover Disks?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I found a bunch of old cover disks (Amiga Format/Computing), and I'm just wondering if there's any interest for that out there? It seems I have already gotten rid of the magazines, or else they're awaiting discovery at a later stage (probably gone though).

I realize that I'm not sitting on a pile of gold, but maybe there's some collector out there that appreciate the opportunity to get hold of them. Who knows (well, I hope you people do)?

EDIT: I've realized that some people are offended by sales pitches and people not invested in the Amiga community. While I'm no longer an active user, the only computer I used at home until 2002 was my Amiga 4000 (still got it tucked away, which I'm a bit ashamed of). Anyway, the reason I did this post about the cover disk is that I prefer that they end up within the community (if there's an interest), instead of ending up being thrown away (well, I might store it next to all the other stuff since I have a difficult time parting with all my Amiga related things).

Subject: Where should I start with Amiga?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've always been interested in game collecting, from Xbox to PlayStation and especially Nintendo. But I never really researched in retro game computers like the Amiga. I don't really know where to start but I do want Amiga but I don't know what console to buy and how expensive they'll be. Can anyone give me advice on what to buy and how to know Amiga computers? (I live in the Netherlands)

Subject: Showing off the Gravis Joystick for Amiga - and a plea for help

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi all, I'm searching for a Gravis Gamepad for Atari/Amiga, and am hoping to find someone who owns one and would let me either buy or borrow it. Gravis made Amiga-compatible, 9-pin versions of both their basic 2-button joystick and the PC Gamepad in the early 90s; the joystick I've already managed to collect, but the Gamepad is like a ghost - I've been watching eBay like a hawk for a good year or so and not spotted a single one.

If you happen to own a Gravis Gamepad for Amiga, in any condition, and would be willing to part with it - or even loan it - please DM me!

I don't want to leave this as a dull WTB post, so I thought I'd share the Amiga-compatible Gravis joystick that I've collected: https://imgur.com/a/h20BGgJ

As well as Amiga/Atari and PC, they also used the same shape of joystick for a series of Mac joysticks, and an officially licensed Nintendo one. They all have a giant wheel in the base that adjusts the tension of the stick, all the way from "it droops to the side if you let go of it" to "feels like dragging a jet fighter through the sky". The Amiga one is particularly interesting because of how the selector wheels on the left work - on PC, they can change which button is 1 or 2, but additionally selecting digital Forward and Back controls seems unique to Amiga.

Ask me anything about the joystick if it piques your interest - I've been researching Gravis in a big way for a series of videos and should be able to speak to a lot of it.

Subject: Are there MSX, CPC6128 and Acorn Atom emulators for Amigaos 3.1

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Looking for some emulators for those systems. Found a CPC emulator but it is for AmigaOS4 and beefy CPU; while I am looking for OS3.1 emulators, that can run on standard Motorola accelerated systems (like the 030/50 for example).

Subject: Somewhat of topic but need to share my experiences for the 2 groups of people i care most about r/c64 r/amiga - RE: Recent Shipping experiences ordering parts for my vintage restore side business and projects.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Good Evening folks, I just wanted to share some experiences for those of you who have a passion for ordering parts for your Commodore and Amiga equipment. I have ordered over 67 items this month and have noticed an alarming trend with shippers. Why am i posting this here: Because I care about you folks and our Commodore / Amiga Product. So in a way its related and I'm looking out for this community's investments.

I have backlisted DHL from all my purchase shipping methods: here is why: On numerous occasions I've found that DHL will charge you a good chunk of coin then send you like 25 emails in 2 days saying they wont be able to deliver until approx. double the quoted express premium shipping eta you paid for then they will ding you a nice chunk of money just to get it across boarder. By the time its said and done they've under delivered on your eta by double the wait time and more then doubled your shipping costs. In the end you would have been further ahead to just use international royal express mail for 13rd the price. you would have received your product 1 day sooner then what dhl can deliver for 3 times the price.

I have also BLACKLISTED INTELCOM shippers as they do NOT safely and SECURELY deliver your equipment. I've had a number of items stolen as INTELCOM on numerous occasions will leave your EXPENSIVE vintage order on your front lawn in plain daylight or throw it over your fence and leave it laying in the rain damaged from the fall. Then they have the audacity to take a picture of the item and send that to you while your at work. Awesome if you have a wife and kids that are always home but if you and your family work for a living this is unacceptable. They don't take the item to a post office or drop off depot. So you have a 200 dollar plus item damaged on your lawn and stolen. of the 67 items ive recently ordered ive had over 10 either stolen off my lawn or damaged from these two shippers.

I'm just looking out for you guys because i care about our hobbies and passions and our commodore / amiga collectables. next time you order something, seriously consider asking the seller NOT to use DHL or INTELCOM and choose a different method. It will be way cheaper, arrive in the same time frame, and be deliver courteously, securely and undamaged. I wont order anything anymore if my only option are these two shippers. BLACKLISTED. learned my lesson.
