Subject: Moving from UK to US - 50hz to 60hz conversion?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

So, I am moving from UK to US and I have Amiga 500/1200 and 1084-d2 monitor. Was checking out how I can connect my 50hz 220v to US power network and so far I have found only super expensive (1500$ - 2000$) 60hz to 50hz converters. Voltage is not an issue, but seems hz converters are...

Broken Pins on PiStorm

Hi All, while removing the PiStorm from my Amiga 1000 to transplant it into my A500, The first and last in on the CLPD broke off. Can someone tell me if any or both of these are unused pins? Or is this Board just borked now?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi this is my first post here so sorry if I get anything wrong. I would like to make a compilation of public domain games to put on a floppy, but I don’t know how to make the menus or put multiple games on one disk. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Subject: How popular were Amigas in Canada back in the day, and where would I most easily find one?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've heard that Amigas used to be somewhat popular here back in the 80s, and that we somehow even got the only NTSC CD32 consoles, but I've never seen one in the flesh to my knowledge. I've seen lots of old PCs, Macs, some Apple IIs, some Vic 20s, and I once knew someone with a Commodore 128, but I've never seen an Amiga in person.

Now, I was born in late 1993, and by the time I started using computers, Windows 95 was out, and PCs were flourishing. Macs were pretty popular in school computer labs at one point, from what I can gather, and I remember using some when I was in kindergarten in the late 90s.

I have an interest in computing history, I used to have a small collection of retro machines, and I've also dabbled in Amiga emulation at various points. I'd someday love to own a real one, even just a 500. What do you guys think would be my best bet for finding one?

Subject: Vampire 500 and Boobip 2 meg ram…

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Question for anyone who knows… When I first got my Vampire 500 v2+, I was installing it into a rev6a machine with a 1 meg chip ram upgrade. The expansion was a Boobip unit that came with a Gary interface for an additional 1 Meg of slow ram. At the time the chip ram expansion worked fine, but the Gary interface and slow ram did not. Does anyone know if this has been fixed, and what release I need to get the fix?

Subject: Amiga 1200 black screen

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have an amiga 1200 which was getting to kickstart screen. Diagroms were switched in no problem.

Ive gone back to kickstart 3.1 roms and now i get either a black screen or no signal.

Ive put the diagroms back and its okay though the keyboard appears to not be working.

Given the age and just recently being used again after unknown time, is it possible this is down to capacitors or could the 3.1 ROMS have gone bad ?

Any help or advice troubleshooting welcome.
