Subject: No analog audio from mister fpga pre built kit

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello. I recently purchased the analog version of this kit from mister add ons.

https://misteraddons.com/collections/kits-1/products/mister-pre-configured-bundle-with-aluminum-case

However I am not getting any audio. Im running audio from the jack to edifier speakers but no sound is coming out. I made sure core audio is turned up (F12 + left) but still nothing. Anyone have any suggestions I may have missed? I'm fairly new to this btw with this being my first kit. Thanks

Subject: Connecting USB keyboard/controller to a preconfigured bundle for the first time

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Is this possible with the one power adapter that comes with the MiSTer or do I need more? Sometimes it seems like the controller can register, but I haven't been able to get the keyboard to light up or accept any input. Any suggestions appreciated!

Subject: The "perfect" MiSTerFPGA for a custom arcade

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have a DE10 with a standard MisterFPGA stack, and a Mister Multisystem. The Multisystem is connected to my TV, and works great. I love it.

I have a modern custom arcade with a vertical 16:9 TV that is current connected to a PC, but I really like the Mister. Is there anything similar to the Multisystem that I could use for the arcade system? The is NOT a JAMMA arcade, so I don't need that, but what do you recommend for this?

Thanks

Subject: Advice on MiSTer arcade cabinet setup

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi - looking for some advice on building a top end MiSTer-based arcade cabinet setup. I'm looking to build an accessible and authentic cabinet experience, primarily for arcade titles, then adding console titles as a second priority.

I'm coming from experience in software emulation setups (Retropie, MAME, Launchbox etc), PCB/hardware building experience, and Linux. MiSTer, woodworking/cabinetry, as well as controller/joystick building and CRT are new to me.

I've found bits and pieces online on various aspects, but not a complete end-to-end guide or walkthrough.

Can someone throw some links/suggestions my way? Thanks!!

Subject: Is there a way to set update_all to exclude everything except specific cores?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

If I'm just looking for specific console cores and don't intend to mess with the other cores, can I do that with the main update script? Is it all or nothing?

Subject: Any one tried the 30/60 fps patches for Starfox?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Has anyone got the following hack working on the Mister, in particular either of the ones that maintain the original game speed at 20 fps but some elements animate at 30 or 60 fps.

https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/7163/

I have tried different combinations of the cpu and fx chip over clocking options to no avail. They work with the base game but am interested in this hack as it supposedly maintains the original game speed just with smoother animations.

Have tried in an emulator so I know the patch has been applied ok

Thanks in advance

Subject: Where is limitations of current FPGA platform ?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I thinking about buying mister but it seems that for current platform even simpler systems like N64 and DS are out of reach already. I really want these two.

I understand that new fpga platform is needed to continue with emulation generation of GameCube, Dreamcast, Original XBOX, PS2. Where is Wii and 3DS? These are still PS2 generation console and will be possible on new platform ?

Subject: Astro City Mistercade

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I want to build a Mistercade. I want a Astro City , New Astro City, or Astro City 2 (maybe that’s the same as new Astro City). I currently have a regular Mister connected to my TV so I know the Mister basics.

I currently have a NetDimm Blast City.

Which Astro City would you recommend for a mistercade? I’m thinking the type of monitor and video resolution would be important. I believe the Astro City original one uses 240p.

Not sure if the newer Astro Cities support 480p. I’m ok with expensive I just want the best Mistercade Candy setup possible.

I was leaning towards an original Astro City but thought maybe I’d want more than 240p in some situations.

Only thing that concerns me on the New Astro Cities is the yellowing speakers. Thanks!

Subject: Mister + Save files + Network + Mac

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hey MiSTer fam, so I have three MiSTer in different rooms throughout my house and each is connected to the internet router via Cat6 Ethernet cables. Next step is to, hopefully, connect them to a network hard drive so that I can sync roms and save files. First of all, is it possible to sync save files to a network hard drive? And secondly, I'm on a Mac and am struggling to find a good walkthrough for this process, as well as what kind of network hard drive I should use? I've never created a network! Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give, much love!

Subject: Cps2 roms not working? Keep getting "not found"

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've downloaded some Cps2 roms, dungeons and dragons as well as Xmen vs Street Fighter but after dropping them in the mame folder, they still won't boot up when selecting the game under "Arcade". Do i need to do an update all? I did an update all when I first purchased my mister but do I need to also do it when adding in cp2 roms? Did I just download the incorrect format? Thanks

Roadstar CTV 1020 not showing colours with a MiSTer FPGA

I just got a 10 inch Roadstar CTV 1020 and the picture is black and white / grayscale instead of colour. I have a MiSTer FPGA connected via SCART. The picture is fine on two consumer CRTs so I'm confused why it's not working on this CRT. The TV's interface is showing in colour (blue screen, channels numbers in green etc.). Anyone has any clue if there's a setting or a fix? It's unusable in this state :(

Subject: Separate button mappings for each core

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello! First time posting on Reddit if you can believe that, and I'm sorry if this is something that's already been covered here or elsewhere but I can't find a solution anywhere.

So, I have an 8bitdo Arcade Stick that I use for arcade cores (as well as the NeoGeo one) and the issue I have is the button mapping I've set for the stick doesn't work for all of them, meaning if I set it as a row for NeoGeo's ABCD, for example (from left to right it'd be A, B, RT and LT on the stick), then on Cadillacs & Dinosaurs the jump and punch actions will be reversed (jump to the left of the punch button).

I've looked around and there used to be a "define buttons" on the NeoGeo core that's not there anymore (I've ran the UpdateAll script yesterday to make sure I didn't miss anything). Is there a keyboard hotkey that'd allow me to set new button mappings inside a core? I've read about multi-button mapping on the documentation for MiSTer but there's no guide on how to access it on each core (if it's accessible at all anymore).
Maybe there's a way to set custom mappings editing .INI files?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Subject: Can someone explain or provide a link that explains the options in Update All?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I just recently learned I can get the mame roms and bios through this menu, and some of the other options seem promising but figured if ask before randomly enabling them. I've been wanting to play saturn. Will the unofficial updater get me the saturn core? Which one do you all recommend enabled and which ones do you recommend leaving disabled? I have a 1TB sd card so plenty of room to mess around with cores. Thanks
