Hello,
I’m buying all the components for my MiSTer setup and have a couple questions.
So far my build includes:
De10 nano board
MisTER USB Hub
128 SDRAM
Asus BT 500 adapter
I have an hdmi monitor that does not have any audio capabilities. Am I forced to buy the digital IO board in order to be able to get sound? I have headphones and some bookshelf speakers but no way of hooking them up with this setup.
Can audio be sent to a Bluetooth speaker via the BT dongle?
Do I need to buy a bigger power supply?
Am I missing anything else obvious in this build?
Any input appreciated. Excited to get started once it all arrives.

^ TLDR: Mister Add Ons Analog IO wont display on my CRT correctly, didnt know how to test if it was defective.
Imgur Album: Click Here
So, I tested my setup with my component CRT and THREE different LCD's. In conclusion, I dont think the Analog Board from Mister Add Ons is defective, everything is just... weird.... Playing with VGA Scaler in the settings.ini and etc can take me from an out of sync menu core to a snowy one. Yes I I have flipped the SOG switch. Here's the breakdown of the imgur album...
CRT - Boots purple snow, then menu core with white snow background (never gets to background image). Loading up any ROM in a core will break the sync. See pic of Chrono Trigger in album (pic 3).
LCD 1: - HDMI from main board works, component out from Analog IO does not work period/black screen.
LCD 2: - HDMI from main board DOES NOT work period/black screen. Component from Analog IO works fine (snow background on menu core, but sync in ROMs is fine). The HDMI port works as I tested it with my PC, so Im at a loss there.
LCD 3: - HDMI from mainboard and component from Analog IO work. Again, using analog the menu core background never shows, its just white snow behind the menu core. With HDMI, the menu core background image loads.
I have a Trinitron that Im about to RGB mod, and Im praying that will work with my VGA to SCART cable. I can test that when I finish. But... my question is, why is everything so finicky??? How is that with 4 displays, they all function differently. Is YPbPr on MiSTer really this janky????

Subject: Is it possible to get audio out of this type of VGA cable?
Subject: AO486 core DOS fonts don't look *quite* right on a VGA CRT via the analog I/O board's VGA out. I do not have vmode set in autoexec.bat. What setting am I not setting correctly?
Subject: Joystick Problems with MISTer used with/in a Arcade 1up Cabinet
Im trying to use my MISTer FPGA inside a modified Arcade 1up cabinet. A Microsoft XBox Controller is also used. It seems that the newly attached Arcade joysticks (with USB-Breakout Board connected) is somehow interfering. I also added 3 joystick buttons to the original Mortal Combat II setup (for Menu, OK and Back). Is there a possibility to delete the joystick configuration completely? What I noticed is that the initialization of the Arcade stick does not work properly - the script automatically hops over certain inputs (from a to x for instance) without pushing anything. Also the Arcade buttons A, B, X, Y do not work. Input with the XBox Controller besides works fine. I though I could use the two controller beside each other!?

Subject: Has anyone use their Sega Master System Phaser lightgun with the SMS and/or Atari7800 cores via SNAC?
I find that the MiSTer cores seem to consistently register the position to be just left and up of looking down the barrel.
Using the same TV and gun on a real Master System, the tracking and sight seem to match exactly.
Anyone else experience this?

Subject: Would it ever be possible to bolt on a GPU to run 3D MiSTer core games like PSX & Saturn titles in 4k like you can with RetroArch?
Just wondering. I'm okay with the low res for nostalgia purposes but it would be cool if we could crank up say, Tomb Raider or Magic Carpet.

Is it possible to overclock a core to get around slowdown issues in some games like metal slug, sonic, etc? I know it's possible on the genesis with a physical overclock which doesn't alter the game speed.

Subject: Button mappings not saving when I turn system off then back on (I have been using "Save Settings" after each remapping).
I recently got a PS4 rev. 2 controller to use with MiSTer, and now my button mappings within individual cores (e.g. NES) are not saving. However, the mappings do save with some arcade cores (e.g. Ghosts 'n Goblins). I was using an 8bitdo SN30 pro + and I did not have any issues with individual cores remembering settings. Does anybody know how to fix this? Is there anyway to completely blank and reset core settings? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Subject: Mean Well GST25B05-P1J power supply buzzing sound
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my MiSTer power supply, I bought a Mean Well power supply model GST25B05-P1J a year ago, the other day I noticed a buzzing sound coming out of it and I never noticed it before, besides said buzzing sound (which I think is not normal and not a good symptom at all) the power supply works fine with my MiSTer, but i'm afraid it could be malfunctioning and it could damage my MiSTer.
Does any of you using this model of power supply noticed this buzzing sound? Btw I tried connecting the power supply on another power outlet and I had the same result

Subject: Donpachi (1995) Running on the MiSTer FPGA Cave Core
wierd question (and spoiler alert): in order to beat Psycho Mantis the player have to switch the ps controller from port 1 to port 2. it is so ingenious but is there a way to replicate this on the mister??? i am so stuck I gotta pass this boss, this fight is one of the best i have seen in v games like ever.

Subject: Gearing up for MiSTer. I'm addicted to making control panels! Got a few others not pictured. All use Ultimarc mini-pacs and the Tempest panel will use a mini and an Opti-pac. Will these all connect with no issues and allow button and joystick assignment with any cores and games, console and arcade?
So just ordered a Mister kit and I was wondering if the Guncon 3's USB connection is that much better compared to a Wiimote?

Subject: USB or controller SNAC adapters or converters?
I'm finally getting my mister multisystem soon from the UK and I'm just trying to figure out which accessories I should get so I can play and use original controllers. I was torn over whether I should get individual SNAC adapters or if I should just get a USB adapter that's connected to something else like universal device or a SNAC converter that can do multiple controllers from different systems? I have an original SNES with a real controller and I want to be able to use that controller with it. But I also want to use other stuff that may not be supported like Neo Geo controllers and arcade sticks.
I looked into SNAC converters and it seems pretty interesting and may solve the issue instead of having to get multiple individual adapters. But you need to also buy the individual cables for each console as well with it. When I'm thinking a USB adapter might be better.

Has anyone had any recent experience buying from Zerohimself lately? I bought some stuff from him a few years ago and everything went smoothly, but I ordered some more stuff 2 weeks ago and it's like he doesn't exist anymore. There's been no email update saying my order shipped, even though the website said there would be, and I emailed him 2 days ago and never got a response. The stuff is a birthday gift for my brother, and his birthday's come and gone by now. He and I understand the deal with shipping delays these days, so it's not a massive upset, but I guess I would just like some sort of confirmation that Zerohimself still active and the website didn't just take my money. Can anyone confirm he's still filling orders?
