Subject: Where to buy
Hi all, glad I found this forum and I’m new to the Mister FPGA. Do you know where to buy the device that I could run some games to begin with, e.g., the cps 1/2, etc? I checked misteraddons.com but their bundles are all out of stock. Or should I buy the stuff separately and assemble them by myself.
Thanks for any advices!

Subject: RSK202/1 Case Review: An Update
A few weeks ago, I posted a heavily critical review of the RSK202/1 case by Ronin no Sakura Kai. My frustrations were twofold: the mechanism for attaching the screws was ridiculous, and I wasn't able to get in contact with any kind of customer support.
Recently, I have been able to get in contact with him. The issue was miscommunication on both ends: I had forgotten that I'd received a "Thank you" email that I could have reached him by, and went to his PayPal page to find his support email. It turns out that the email on his PayPal was incorrect, he's in the process of fixing it.
He's agreed to send me a new version of the case, which I will post a review of when I receive it.

Subject: Neo Geo.... Canceled my hardware orders.... Going with MISTer instead. Hope I dont regret.
So I've been in full OCD mode for several days about building a neo geo MVS with a mv1c board, a 161 in 1 cart, an omvs PCB kit, and a lions 3 acrylic case.
At first I got the MVS board for pretty cheap for today's prices ($87 shipped)
The new green multicart in shockbox for $100
I ordered the lions3 acrylic case for $60 shipped.
Sofar the budget on the build isnt bad.
I planned on a cheap $60 supergun but then am told by omvs designer that that supergun isn't that great and I know the omvs kit is quality so figure screw it.... I'll go with omvs kit.... I fill out form for a quote. Its $120 plus shipping.
By now my "budget" neo geo build is pushing $400 and leaving a bad feeling in my stomach and to top it off I'm looking for the neobiosmasta to install unibios 4.0 and they are no longer in stock.... So only option is knockoff eBay kits that don't fit good and then I realize I still need a controller and by then i will be pushing $500-600 and waiting a month for parts from china, and would have to design my own front panel to 3d print that fits the omvs board with the lions case, also would be wrestling a cheap bios socket knockoff so I said F it and canceled my MVS motherboard and multicart.
Only thing I have coming is the lions acrylic neo geo MVS case which is what I wanted to house a MISTer in anyway.
I mean.... The omvs is supposed to be a cheaper solution to an AES but I missed out on a neo geo aes with 2 joysticks 2 games and a memory card that sold for $335 on a Japan proxy auction site.
Also missed out on an aes with one joystick that sold for $250 today on same site.
So here I am, cancelled my orders and plan to build a MISTer in the acrylic case instead. Feeling kinda bummed out because I enjoy collecting hardware but prices, availability of stuff is ridiculous.
Please tell me I made the right choice 🙄😰🤦♂️🤣
While I’m waiting for my first naked Mister FPGA bundle arriving, I have a quick question - what is the accuracy of the CPS1 board? I’m swinging between just stay with the Mister FPGA CPS 1 core solution or invest a few hundreds dollars to buy a few my favorite CPS1 board/games. Does it really necessary to buy the boards if I already have a Mister FPGA? Does anyone notice any subtle differences (visual or sound) between a real CPS1 board and the Mister FPGA emulation? Thanks a lot to share your insights!
Subject: Format 1TB SD card
Just picked up 1TB SD card. Formatted it to Fat32 and copied my files over from my working 64gb card. Not getting any blinking lights or picture from the Mister with the new 1TB card. Am I wrong in thinking I can just format it to fat32 and copy the files over? Bought the mister pre configured so I didn’t go through the initial SD card setup.

Subject: No sync or image on screen. Resolution?
Hey! Impressed with the mister so far. I got a (old) Wacom screen that i wsnted to use with it, the wacom cintiq 21ux. The Wacom only has a dvi input, see picture for hdmi connection to dvi. I think it might not work due to the mister default resolution not being supported on the wacom. I tried creating a mister.ini file that sets resolution to something that wacom support. Should this ini file be in media/fat/? Or some where else? Mister
Thanks for any help :)
Subject: Issues with key mappings on arcade cores
I searched the subreddit but couldn't find someone with this issue.
I have been completely unable to rebind any of my key mappings for the arcade cores. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but I'm sure it's user error.
I can go through the binding in the sub-menu for a particular core, but once I complete that it doesn't have any effect on the actual bindings. They seem to almost be completely random and differ between each game. I went through the bindings on the main menu as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I use an 8bitdo Arcade stick and the Retro-bit Sega Saturn controller.

Subject: Update/add cores
I used the update_all script and I now can run some cps 1 games. How can I get the new cores and add them? I see there are some cps2 games added after I ran the script, but if there is a new core, how can I add them to my Mister? Do I need to add them manually? Thanks a lot for your help!

Subject: USB questions. Hub/ usb header adapter/ number of ports needed?
So I have the de10 nano, 128mb sdram module, analog io board, and just ordered a mini itx case. I'm trying to figure out all the bits and bobs I need to consolize this build and have found all the flush mount extensions I need for the Ethernet port, VGA, HDMI, power jack etc....
But I can't find a USB solution I'm happy with. In my mind I wanted 4 USB ports on the front of the case for just controllers , and 2 more on the back or inside for keyboard dongle and WiFi.
I figured 4 controller ports would be good that way I could keep a wireless 8bitdo PC engine pad plugged in for all my 8 bit and PC engine cores.....
In the second port I would have my wireless m30 pad for general use and 16bit cores and maybe neo geo core.
The 3rd port would be for a 2nd m30 that way I could play 2 players if needed.
The 4th port would be for my neo geo arcade stick to use on arcade cores.
But now I'm wondering if I really need 4 dedicated USB controller ports? I've never used a mister setup so don't know how plug and play these things are. I know with my emulation PC I always had nothing but problems when hot swapping controllers around in retroarch and so figured if I had 4 ports on the mister for just controllers and left them plugged in , then I'd have less problems.
Is this an unfounded worry? Will 2 controller ports be enough? If I'm jumping onto another core is it as easy as swapping the 2.4g transmitter and its plug and play and good to go each time? Or is there configuring every time? Will whatever pad I have connected work with the mister menu?
That brings me onto question 2.
I have an otg 4 port hub ... The cheap amazon one that is always recommended as an alternative for the add-on hub. Will it be able to handle WiFi, Logitech keyboard dongle, and two 2.4g wireless controllers? Or do I need to get the add-on hub and try to squeeze it in my mini itx case?
Last simple question.
The mini itx case I ordered has 2 USB ports built in, is there an adapter that has male USB header pins on one end and USB A on the other so that these ports on the case can be plugged into the USB hub?
Subject: What's the status on save states for the SNES & Genesis cores?
Hey all, was just wondering if anyone was working on adding save states to the SNES & Genesis cores. I'm really enjoying them but sometimes have to rush out the door.
Lately I've been playing Alien 3 on SNES since all I've ever known is the Genesis version (would have been perfect without that damn timer) and it's way better than I expected despite the floaty euro-controls. Unfortunately I'm spoiled and my patience for the old school password system is limited, even when I 'cheat' by using my phone's camera! lol
Save states would also help me practice at shmups like R-Type III. I think I've heard some rumors that they're in the works but don't know the deets. Anyway, thanks all!

Subject: MiSTer arcade question
I'm considering building a custom tabletop arcade setup with a 8-10in pvm and 2 arcade style controllers and a track ball (maybe). My question is, beyond connecting to a JAMMA interface, is there any reason or benefit to get the MiSTerCade module or would it be fine to just build an enclosure by directly connecting a MiSTer to a CRT/ controller/ speakers enclosed in a cabinet?
Subject: Why does the MISTER fpga look so sharp compared to emulation?
I suspect this is a dumb question as I'm sure it just has to do with how various emulators scale. Nonetheless, when I play consoles (like snes, genesis, turbographx16) through mednafen on my PC, they always look like OLD games. They're fuzzy and washed out. The mister however makes these games look like they're brand new. I know the Mister can't really be equated to emuation like mednafen, but wondering if anyone can confirm the magic that is happening? Is it possible I just haven't dialed in my emulation, or is the Mister doing something completely different?
