Subject: Wonder if anything like this happening in US?: Dutch government quits over 'colossal stain' of tax subsidy scandal
Tax bureau falsely accused 10,000(!) ethnic families of fraud over child subsidies to force them into financial ruin. Cannot figure out how anyone found out? Unclear if there is a way for US citizens to know if there is conduct or a pattern of conduct like that with the IRS? How would we even notice?
Link: Dutch government quits over 'colossal stain' of tax subsidy scandal
Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s government resigned on Friday, accepting responsibility for wrongful accusations of fraud by the tax authorities that drove thousands of families to financial ruin, often on the basis of ethnicity. . . .
A parliamentary inquiry found last month that officials at the tax service had wrongly accused families of fraud over childcare subsidies, causing an “unprecedented injustice”.
Around 10,000 families had been forced to repay tens of thousands of euros each, in some cases leading to unemployment, bankruptcies and divorces. Many of the families were targeted based on their ethnic origin or dual nationalities, the tax office said last year. . . .
“This is about tens of thousands of parents who were crushed under the wheels of the state,” Rutte told journalists. “There can be no doubt, this is a colossal stain.”

Right? It isn't just me being a fairly far Right libertarian, is it? It is insanity. I've been getting voted down on the /r/libertarian threads for things that are kind of libertarian staples... for things that the "Information Wants To Be Free" crowd always responds positively to.
I thought I was going insane. I quit Reddit.
Here is the thing - they're not libertarians - The Libertarian party has been compromised and infiltrated by the Far Left. The Socialist Libertarians (how the fuck does that even work? How do you redistribute equitably and ensure everyone is treated equal even if they're NOT, in a Libertarian world?) have taken control of the cell block.
They're making sure they've got all their bases covered and that the rhetoric drowns out and buries any voices of dissent. They're *highly* mobilized. The THEY are in play.

I'm half tempted to jump in there and crack some skulls but it would be a huge waste of time and I'd rather play Minecraft.

Subject: Can Trump lawyer Sidney Powell get the public Dominion's data by turning the tables?
Now that Trump election attorney, Sidney Powell, is being sued by Dominion, can she turn the tables and give the public a treasure trove of Dominion data?
SEE: Dominion Voting Sues Former Trump Lawyer, Seeking More Than $1.3 Billion In Damages
She now has what she was denied before: a legitimate basis for extensive discovery in court to force Dominion to turn over election data, including information about its internal systems. Whereas that info was confidential business info when she filed Trump lawsuits, she now needs that info to argue her defense that what she alleged was reasonably possible (and not a "kraken").
In fact, she may even be able to get discovery early if she files for pre-action discovery, with the intent to file her own counter claim for defamation against Dominion. Their denials of her claims led to her facing bar proceedings, public derision in the media, etc. She will need their internal data to make out a counterclaim, and therefore can get her hands on all manners of info that she would have had to get a subpoena or court order to demand before.
Also, in some jurisdictions, defamation defendants may seek discovery regarding the plaintiff’s financial history, even where the plaintiff purports to disclaim any economic damages. Powell may be able to get Dominion's business accounting records and "follow the money."
Sometimes what is meant to harm an advocate can actually be used to strengthen their position!
No matter one's position about the election, the candidates, or the voting process (or more recent events at the Capitol), a private company was at the heart of the mechanics of voting in our nation in 2020. They received enhanced control after states sought protection against "foreign interference," alleged against Russia. Rather than producing as much info to the public as possible after a serious conflict emerged between the two candidates' camps, Dominion sought business protections. Is that dangerous for democracy? If we give private companies control over democratic elections, they should have to turn over more info when there are doubts about their operations (even in closed-door legislative sessions or sealed records). Regardless, if they refuse transparency due to business needs, once they open the door of litigation against a private citizen (for over $1B), all bets must be off. Public Transparency.

Subject: NSA Can Reportedly Track Phones Even When They're Turned Off
Subject: The rising tide of authoritarianism in the west
There are some very worrying events of a very pernicious nature occurring at the moment and I must say I am very concerned at the end goal behind them.
Within the past few weeks we have seen the radical left in America use a foolish and nonsensical invasion of the capitol building by the radical right (and some members of the radical left as well, which is seldom pointed out in the mainstream discussion) as an excuse to crack down on views and opinions they disagree with, leading to mass censorship of people they disagree with ideologically on almost every social media platform.
The overwhelming majority of people they banned are not on the radical right and simply share a conservative viewpoint on current issues. They had no part in the foolish actions that occurred at the capitol and none of what is happening truly has anything to do with what occurred that day at all, besides using it as an excuse to completely silence their ideological opposition in every way possible.
We are even seeing news corporations such as CNN pushing for the cancellation of right wing news stations such as OANN and Newsmax, their end goal is complete control over the narrative and information that is to be exposed to the public. The radical left are so deeply ideologically motivated and hungry for power that they no longer believe in diversity of opinion, they want the only socially acceptable views or opinions to be the ones they hold and push onto the public.
With Joe Biden as the next president of the United States I am deeply concerned about the degree of power the radical left will have over the institutions that govern their citizens.
Here in Canada with the virtue signalling, ideologically motivated Justin Trudeau as our prime minister we now have to contend with compelled speech here in Canada in the form of Bill C-16. For the first time in British common law history, we now must use certain pronouns when referring to certain persons or we will face the full force of the law.
I am very worried that the United States will follow us down this road of instantiating the doctrine of the radical left into their legal system, there should be no ideological bias within our institutions, especially the degree to which that has occurred in the educational and judicial systems here in Canada.
I am also extremely concerned that the government under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s rule will support more and more of the authoritarian regulations and restrictions being pushed onto the population at large, at this stage of development I feel as if that is almost a given.
There are endless signs of the rise of authoritarianism at the moment. The end goal behind the mass censorship, the tyrannical virus restrictions and the general culture of authoritarianism that has pervaded our society for years now I fear to be quite sinister.
I think we are truly witnessing the ascent to power of the radical left and I’m very worried about what kind of dark and twisted road they will take our society down in the next few years. It seems that a totalitarian/authoritarian globalist technocracy is what they are aiming at and they are inching closer each and every day.
We have to do everything we can to actively oppose all of the different emerging forms of authoritarianism, lest we sink deeper and deeper into tyranny and lose our free and open society.
Object when you still have the chance to do so.
Speak out while you still have time.
