Subject: My thoughts on the BLM protests vs the invasion on the Capitol building
So I've been seeing a lot of people trying to compare the BLM protests and what happened yesterday like they're the same thing. The idea being if you supported the BLM protests you need to support what happened in DC, or if you condemned the attack on DC you should condemn the BLM protests. Well, they're different and here's why:
The BLM protests were protesting decades of police brutality against black people (and other minorities) in America. This is a protest against civil rights abuses and government oppression.
The invasion of the Capitol building was done to prevent the electoral votes from the 2020 election from being counted, and possibly to steal or destroy the electoral ballots. There is also evidence that some of the insurgents intended to take hostages. This is an insurrection attempting to prevent a democratic election from being finalized.
These are not the same thing and anyone who says they are is either a moron, arguing in bad faith, or is a troll.
That is all, thank you.

Events like this are why I believe arming the people is so important. The government may not always be there when your town or home is attacked. The illusion of safety and security in the United States just took a beating and it goes to show how even capitol security won't have your back one day.

I've noticed several posts in the past 24 hours that seem innocuous enough. But looking into the comments that they make, the users are full of whataboutism and Trump exceptionalism. Thinking that there's actually a push to censor him, even after he organized a violent coup.

It is weird that so many Libertarians on Reddit assume the POLICE were in on it...
But have trouble making the leap to maybe the police were getting their standing orders from the Democrats.
Like the COPS are the problem, but there is no way the politicians who have been encouraging rioting for the last 6 months would have done something like this, hoping that Trump wouldn't completely condemn everyone involved, so that they could try to force Pence to invoke the 25th amendment - or threaten to impeach again.
Nah... why would you even *suspect* something like that? There is nothing like a precedent of them being rabid to de-legitimize and tarnish this administration.
