I've had this piece of software downloaded from a trusted space by a trusted uploader and just today I experienced something new. A tiny bit of backstory - had it for a few years on my laptop. Recently got a new PC. Threw the installer on a USB, moved to the PC, installed it, ran it perfectly for a good 2 weeks. But suddenly today it triggered UAC saying it'll make some changes. I thought to myself (failing the unmentioned rules of being vigilant always for weird stuff like this) "It's worked flawlessly for so long - surely nothing wrong will happen" and woe and behold when I finished up and closed the software, I received a warning from Windows Defender that it contained a few Trojans and whatnot.

Upon further inspection, I discovered the culprit and eliminated all traces of it (It's called Crackonosh and it failed to enact it's full vengeance judging by all characteristics being normal - have monitored all fan speeds, voltages etc the whole day. On the fence about reinstalling windows since I literally just finished setting up everything on the PC a mere 2 days ago and I can't be arsed doing it again just because it seems so daunting having to do it after having done it just now).

My question is - has this always been somehow hidden by the files or something? I've literally used this software for about a year on my laptop where I often run malwarebytes scans and windows defender scans. I also checked the installer folder on both laptop and new PC with both AVs and still nothing. There's 0 traces of it left and I've followed through with all steps on this article https://decoded.avast.io/danielbenes/crackonosh-a-new-malware-distributed-in-cracked-software/ to make sure it's wiped. Should I reinstall it? Should I seek another source or roll back to the old version of the software I have? The source for this installer was... I can't remember the name right at the moment, m0 something ru/rus? But it was the legit source for these things back then and I imagine still is.

I feel I should add a further note that outside of this I had one pirated game from fitgirl repacks installed which displayed no warnings when I scanned it post-download (just a habit I've got, I feel I trust fitgirl repacks) and I highly doubt it came from it. Other than that my browsing is all fair and I use uBlock Origin and I haven't even redownloaded or transferred all of my old brushes.

It won't be the end of the world if I have to roll back but I sure as hell am used to this version. Also should I reinstall Windows? First time I am encountering a miner and it sounds like a sneaky one even if I'm pretty confident I've wiped all traces.

I'm trying it for the first time and I'm getting a higher upload speed than download whereas my internet speed is current about 140 down and 50 up - this is way slower than uTorrent which I was using before. Is something wrong or is this actually what it's like?

Does anyone know the process for updating cracked software? I'm trying to update my Windows VM to the latest version but don't really want to uninstall and then reinstall the app.

Skidrow reloaded was safe in old megathread whilst it isnt anywhere on the new one, did something change and it was not added?

The issue is that the game won’t run. The launcher will, but when the game itself run, all it does is have my cursor spin for a bit then do nothing. I’ve set both to run as administrator, it doesn’t help. It was uploaded by elamigos, and it doesn’t seem to be the steam or origin version.

So, I really enjoy this community and I want to be able to access and keep the new Megathread in place in the event of a crackdown, which with reddit going public this year I imagine isn't too far away.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the "Ripped" website doesn't have some Megathread links and I couldn't find an external community like discord.

Is there anyone who can help with this?

If I go to the file folder and delete everything manually, is there any remaining file?

This is my first time torrenting, and I knew that I should get a vpn so I got mullvad because other people vouched for it. I googled how to set it up for torrenting and stuff and started downloading. Now the download speeds were pretty slow but I don't really mind waiting so I didn't do anything about it. About a day and a half into downloading, the game is at 91% my internet just shuts off and won't turn back on.
