Subject: Having fun isn't hard. When you've got a library card
Cut the cord, so to speak, after HBO gutted their catalog.
My local library network has an excellent collection of blu Ray discs. Check them out, rip with makemkv, convert with handbrake, and stream to your devices using Kodi or Plex. Completely local, straight from the disc high quality at your fingertips or through intra-library loan.
Scored a Blu ray drive and 4 TB drive on black Friday and can't believe waited this long. The library catalog is way better than the limited selection you get from subscription services.
I watch about 4-6 hrs a week, mostly movies, while stationary biking. The golden age of streaming is over I fear, physical media (or local copies) are king.
Subject: Good Cites for College Textbooks?
I was using z-lib before the cite was taken down. I don't have $700 to pay for my textbooks for the upcoming semester, and the megathread cites don't have the books I need. Anyone have any other suggestions on where to get free textbooks? My area of study is sociology and political science if that helps. Thanks.
Subject: Using Stremio safely with VPN
I want to check out if Stremio can be a viable alternative to Kodi in my usecase. Living in a country that enforces anti torrent measures, that means I definitely want to use a VPN to get a level of safety.
Device is a Chromecast 4k, which apparently does not allow a direct VPN connection. I have a raspberry pi lying around here somewhere and I read somewhere, that I can use the raspberry exactly for this. So normal devices connect to the router, Chromecast connects to the raspberry, which itself has a connection to the VPN.
I have zero Linux skills, but am quite happy with following tutorials, also if it involves SSH.
VPN provider is PIA if that matters. So how do I go about this, is there some tutorial or anything that covers exactly this?
Subject: Dockers in software piracy?
So I just learned about dockers. Would it be possible to use dockers to install a pirate software alongside a legit copy of the software? For example you could put the cracked software in a docker so it doesn’t interfere with any of the dependencies for the legit copy? Was wondering if it’s possible to separate out work related projects vs hobby related projects without using the same legit/cracked software. If I were to install both of them on the same computer, I wasn’t sure if the cracked software would mess with the legit software
Subject: Rapidgator premium downloader?
Subject: Soap2day foreign language subtitles
I have the same issue on all the other streaming movie sites that I’ve tried.
For an example, The Godfather Part 2, the opening 5 mins or so is all Italian. No subtitles pop up to translate, the way the actual copy of the movie does. This isn’t just The Godfather but every movie with foreign language moments like Midsommar, same issue. I know certain sites you can turn on closed captions but it stays on the entire movie (which I don’t like).
Is this the only way to fix the issue? Just deal with subtitles being on throughout the entire movie? The fact that I can’t find any other posts discussing this leads me to believe I might be doing something wrong.
Subject: Are there any free premium link generators for rapidgator?
Subject: Is there a way to disable ONLY pop-up ads and just allow the ones on the sidebar?
I'm trying to watch my favorite cartoon and the listing on Watch Cartoon Online hasn't been updated in ages despite having a whole other season of new episodes released.
I'm currently using Avast to block ads, but the website with the updated roster of episodes breaks every single time I hit play. Constantly opens new tabs every time I hit the play button if I don't have adblock enabled. I honestly wouldn't have a single problem with the side bar ads if they'd only quit with the relentless pop-up tabs.
Many third party streaming sites outside of WCO like KimCartoon are beyond my ability to navigate because of how deeply infested they are with ads.
Subject: Deemix Alternatives?
Now that Deemix is no longer going to be updated, are there any other alternatives out there that download in true 320 kbps or flac (even if premium account is necessary)?
The last version of deemix doesn't work for me at all with it closing shortly after opening saying it couldnt connect to the server despite my firewall not stopping it.
Subject: What happened to olgply?
hello! i used to love using olgply to watch movies and tv as it had amazing UI and was super simple to use, however, the past few months it has been "under maintenance", even though I di not fully believe they have so much work to do to take up (about) one and a half months from what I remember (maybe more), is everything fine? will the website return soon? (if at all)

Subject: Wondering about piracy privacy and computer security
Today I saw a random article about how piracy comes with digital privacy risks and that my personal data can be leaked into the network. I don't really believe it but as a privacy enthusiastic person, I'd like to ask anyway.
Can my personal data or anything other than the file I am seeding into the network be maliciously fed to another computer?
I've always figured using an free and open-source client + vpn + not downloading executables + paying attention to file extensions is a pretty good combination for being able to carelessly download whatever I wanted. Am I wrong? I sure hope not bcs I love this shit.

Subject: Web-DL learning - any help
I'm an aviad torrenter, and love having my own labrary of content that isn't subject to contract changes. That said sometimes torrents die, which has lead me to expanding my knowleadge of web-DL's for scientfic perposes. I've heard of StreamFab and AnyStream being used for this, exspecially when it comes to the big 3. Netflix, Prime and Disney. I'm wondering, do they know that your downloading through these. Im guessing you'll need an account for them streaming services for it to work, which i do. I just don't want to get a letter in the post or have my account termiated for trying to get a Web-DL . So would they know that im using one of these softwares to download there content or would it just look like im watching it

Subject: How do you know if a book has the right amount of pages?
Figured you guys would know better than anyone else. I just got Carrie by Stephen King and the PDF says it has 183 total pages but everything on Google says it should have have 199. I would attribute it to compressing the text in fewer pages but I'd just like to make sure.
Or in this game is it "you won't know if something is missing or changed till later"?
Subject: What's your favorite mp3 downloading software?
So my Dad downloads mp3s and burns them to CDs for my Mom.
He currently goes to mp3juices.cc types in a song name and clicks through a few links and it downloads. Sometimes he clicks on the advertisements instead of the download link and doesn't really like the site.
Is there an easier more efficient way out there for searching and downloading individual songs like how Napster was, or is the way he's doing it the easiest way?
Needs to be straightforward and not complicated. lol
