There is uncensored.citadel.org - it is worth checking out. There are really quite a few BBSes - they're the new underground social media. People are taking it back.

So if I wanted to run a board, I could in theory use my macbook or my alienware laptops.  Should I do it?  Is it hard to set up?

Dude - you can literally run it on a Pi3 - and I've figured out how to avoid all the problems I had trying to do it that way. 

And Ig has made a new appinstall package that makes it dead easy. 

The trick is, don't fuck around with Dynamic DNS and trying to host it on your residential ISP. Well, sort of. Go with this Ace solution I am using now and they send you a Cisco router that tunnels to their network and you come out there.  So you've got to register a domain name (I'd recommend avoiding anything that can be linked to white supremacy or nationalism... even remotely...call yourself WallofTolerance or ponylandbbs.com) and buy this service. You're talking maybe $30/yr for registration and $15 a month for the static IP. Again, I can help with any of this. 

The only thing better than 1 citadel with a lot of conversation is 2 citadels with a lot of conversation - and the only thing that would improve on that is a 3rd citadel with a lot of conversation. As long as they cross pollinate and draw people away from the big social media sites. 

Tonight, I can feel that potential sparking and dimly flickering. It could be like this. A few different flavors, so that you've got a "local"... but a couple alternatives, in case your local isn't buzzing or doing it for you tonight, or you just want to make the rounds.

It would be nice to set up something liberty minded so that people who want to discuss how to peacefully render the state obsolete can talk.  The Noble Order of the Gray Duck is a secret group on facebook that used to be about that but we've hashed it out enough that mostly we're all just homies that hang out until someone invites a normie friend and we argue about all the same old shit again until they convert or leave.  I don't see why we can't have a BBS like that.

Sounds like you've already got the theme of YOUR Citadel figured out, as well as a ready audience to generate traffic. Like I keep saying - starve Facebook by refusing your content to them. That is what made me double down on The Sanitarium. Every bit I write and post on Facebook is me donating my time so Zuckenberg can convert it into money in his vault. 

But every post, every visit, that happens HERE instead of at Facebook - is literally me BLOCKING that transaction - neutering him from the resources that he uses to erode my liberties and grab more authoritarian control for himself. 

So - this is a literal *cause*. It may be pennies - but I'd like to see it swell into a phenomenon where he FEELS it and understands what is going on - and comes to realize it was a group of guys like us who launched it as a pointed initiative intended to intentionally break him.  I think Facebook already understands the potential and it scares them and that is why they're so desperate to keep me from advertising my little BBS on their social network. 

In that respect, this existed way before Trump in my mind, and it isn't a Right Wing/Left Wing thing so much as it is an Anti-Social Media thing. It is only a Right/Left thing because the Left is on board with the Tech Oligarchs controlling the flow of information. Those on the Left who realize this is happening and are opposed to it - we can have an uneasy truce. The President of Mexico, Left as he is - has enough integrity to understand that the One Ring of Facebook is only suitable for throwing into the lake of fire under Mount Doom. It must be unforged.
