Normally I would share this on Facebook, to make my haters from grade school who made me feel insignificant feel like they're falling behind - but without Facebook, I'm going to have to resort to desperate measures to reaffirm my self worth and personal success. I'm sure you all understand. :)

Also, all our Queen Anne Palms died this summer. Not all of them, but 3 of them, and a couple the year before - so we planted a new tree... and a tree that size doesn't come cheap in the desert - and it is one of 3. I'll post more when the other ones get planted - I'm kind of excited. I made the palms look like the best thing on Earth on Facebook over the last 6 years, but I *hate* palms. This time, I got deciduous trees. I like leaves and canopies. I live in the wrong part of the country for that. Ohio is *absolutely* the right place on Earth if you like big trees with huge canopies. Everyone in Ohio fucking *hates* trees, it seems.

Clearly, I have to focus on being more entertaining here on The Sanitarium - to generate the kind of traffic I generate on other social media sites. I've been staying sober to try and get the Citadel migrated, and that might be part of the problem. Evidently I'm one of those fun drunks.

Is the clay figure supposed to be a self portrait?  hehe..

It is a bear my kid made at Kid's College one summer when she was maybe 6. Thing has a hump on his back, and totally has that loopy bear posture. I didn't notice until a friend came over and went, "your KID made that? it looks EXACTLY like a bear!"

Then I looked closer and went, "Well... I'll be damned..."

Now she is going to an $80,000 a year art school. I probably should have seen that coming. :)

I assumed it was a young daughter school art project, but where was the fun in saying that.  I really took it as a bear.  Beats the heck out of the hand ashtray I made for my parents as a kid.  And that should give you another clue, since they have not allowed that in school art for decades...

Oh, well - between that and "Otto Roboto," I've got you pegged as a boomer. You grew up watching things first run that I watched in syndication on UHF. So you're probably at least 10 or 15 years older than me...
I suspect you're probably an old school Trekkie, too. Somewhere between Jerry and I in generation? :)

Yes, I am older than you and younger than Jerry.  However, I did not get to see Star Trek in first run prime time, as it was past my bedtime.  So syndication for me.  It is still my favorite Star Trek.

That should narrow it down some. How about a hint... what was your favorite BBS haunt? Earl's or Omni?

Hmm, Probably spent time visiting all the 916 Citadels, but mostly Hotel-86, Omni, Dragon's Den (Both Jerry's and Vince's versions), Earl's Castle got much of my attention, with the Rubber Crutch, Cy's system and Sanitarium running in the next circle of stops with Brent Barrett's system.  And a few hours a week on Hue Jr's system back east along with the home for AmigaCit (which I forget the name and location).  One of the few idiots in Sacramento that called long distance to other states to visit Citadels.

Was it your real name?

Are you a published author?

I have only had an account on this version of your BBS with this account name.  I used my real name on your original Sanitarium back in the day along with this alias.

You are supposed to tell me my real name.  I'm not falling for that one.   ;)

Yes, I have done programming over my 39 year career.  Multiple programming languages for multiple application purposes on mainframes, mini computers and multiple micro computer hardware and operating systems.  Along with hardware repair (including board level repair), network design and implementation for multi-site WAN (14 class C licenses) both locally in Sacramento and across the state. And many other computer related stuff.  And I have had the role of "Aide" on a few Sacramento Citadels back in the day.  I wrote my first paid application in 1978 while still in high school in BASIC.

I have published applications - some that were used internationally and in multiple states.  I have written technical documentation for training manuals or application manuals, but I have not written any books or white papers or columns or blogs.  Just never took the time, as I used all of it in other directions instead.  I didn't have your talent or flare for the written word.  Instead, I stood up in front of people to perform technical training.  Now I manage a team of 14 technical staff until my retirement in the coming year.

I have had newspaper articles written about me and some of the work that I have done in the past.  And if you new my real name, I would show up in some google searches.

Now, I'm sure that this doesn't help you get any closer to figuring out who I am.  But, it does keep some activity going, since you are always asking for BBS interaction.

Then again, it might clue you in a little.

This narrows it down, for sure. I know you're not any of the CitBrats, and you're not Brent K Barrett. But BKB is kind of in the ballpark of your profile.

You're not Gary or Charles. The list of folks in your age range that used actual names on Citadels is pretty short.

I feel like you're someone who I knew somewhat superficially, but who I basically got along with - and didn't really understand why you kind of dug me and the Citadel scene I was part of?

Brian? Is your first name Brian... or...

Andy?

Were you associated more with one sub-community or the other within our larger community? AtariST, PC, Commodore? Ham Radio...

I will say that I was co-sysop or "Aide" by my real name on multiple Citadel systems, but that did not mean that I didn't also utilize this handle on those same boards.  I don't think "Otto" was an "Aide" on any system.  I used it when I wanted to be unknown...

No, there is no B or I in my name at all.  And I was into the Citadels long before you came along.  You could probably say I might have been one of those that "guided" you along.  ;)  And we did talk at a few of the MUPTs but cannot say we "hung" out with the same crowds there...

And I thought I saw Charles log in here once, but that may have been lost in the transfer to new hardware.  I have not seen Gary log in yet.
