Yup, the self-signed certificate is not registered to the alias name or the actual physical name of the BBS - so it throws up an HTTPS error. 

I hate that this error is so confusing for non-technical people and makes them afraid when they actually do have a secure, SSL encrypted connection. 

If you go to 

http://wallofhate.com you won't get this error, but that URL is actually LESS secure than the one that throws up the error. 

Or, if you guys all pitch and pay for an annual authorized cert from a certificate authority, I can make that error go away. 

But doing this for free so that a user calling himself "The Abortionator" can make posts about beastiality.com - I'm not PAYING for a cert to make it SEEM more secure to people who don't understand HTTPS and SSL. :)

I like the analogy to CA's being the cool kid who vouch for a party, and a self-signed cert being you throwing your own party that the cool kid is too cool to go to.

Congratulations. I'm just happy to have a job that isn't a 65 hour workweek with insufferable superiors, that I could actually make a passable living at if I worked a full 40 hours a week. 

First day of work at a real software company and I'm loving the laid back vibe.  They don't want you to nap half your day away but they're pretty cool with you taking some time to just go read a book for a break whenever you need it.  I'm always a huge fan of free cocoa.  The amount of cereal available is to the point of hilarity.  3 weeks of paid vacation isn't bad either.

Yeah, I wish I could code - it is one of the only areas of IT where they still treat white male American citizens fairly decent. 

My last company was pretty cool about me going out to smoke frequently during production downtimes - but first I had to jump all over the COO's ass about how a server reboot took 20 minutes and I could just stand there watching or I could go out and have a smoke and think about what my next steps would be once the system came back up. 

Being an engineer, the most frustrating thing is dealing with all the dumb bitches - developers included. 

I'm in Customer Support but the company is small and has a great vibe, the founders are a couple of brothers and their friend, worked out of their basement for like 4-5 years before they got a real office, they totally understand the small business vibe and are working hard to remember their roots.  Other departments steal people from CS all the time, because we have the best working knowledge of how the program actually behaves in the field.  I've already (2nd day) submitted feedback on functionality and been upvoted by programmers.  Feels good, man.

Yeah, I'll be getting that bonus in a few weeks but in the meantime all your borrowing means is I get to buy a less expensive weedwhacker now that the old one pooped out. But I have $100 of dark money in the form of an Amazon gift card, so I'll get a $199 model on Amazon and pay like $60 for it. I love Amazon. Long live evil Bezos.

More interesting: the app "Darknet" was just recommended to me on Oculus. Please let it be the so-named AR layer over real life detailed in the Daemon/Freedom(TM) duology. I want to trade darknet credits for services. I want to be paid in darknet credits for SEO services. I want to get a 4+ reputation score on a 3,000 base factor. I want to build a short-supply-chain, permaculture economy with like-minded people and people who don't care what I think because our incentives are circumstantially aligned. Can't wait to check it out. I will report.

He hosted a version online but created a new class of ICE called Balrog which was OP. Then he also stopped running daily maintenance so all the lesser ICE stopped regenerating. So basically there was no way to level up before you were trapped by a stat-ravaging demon. Made it unplayable, sadly. I asked a few times to run maintenance even once, since as the only regular player I would have been able to basically raid the entire world by myself. But he didn't have time. The online version was called matrixrunner. I think it's gone now.
