Back then, every 6 months or so I was building the Sanitarium back up from scratch after a complete loss of the database due to some damn BDOS error or the floppies dying. I never backed up, and I always made changes on the fly with users logged in! :D
Then I called Gary Meadows once I effed it up! :)

I always heard that Gary Meadows was helpful to anyone that wanted to run a Citadel. Is that what you thought as well?
If you're connecting through wallofhate.com - which is kind of a landing page that has links to the redirects for secure.wallofhate:4916 and wallofhate:8916 - there may be a long delay before it actually connects. There seem to be some problems with RSS and SSL. Things aren't working exactly 100%. I'll probably build out the other unit - migrate the database from this one to that one, and then swap the hard drives. Being that they're like machines, that should work without any problems.
I've installed and configured Debian and built out Citadel on the test machine about half a dozen times now - so I'm starting to get a hang for building a Citadel server.
My goal is that when you land on The Sanitarium, it will display the "Welcome/Hello" wiki that I've started there - as kind of a welcome banner with some instructions for new users on how to navigate Citadel. Right now, though, things are kind of limping along. They're better than they were on the Pi - even speed, once you negotiate the initial certificate errors - but they should be and could be a lot better.
Also, I kind of blew up RSS feeds in the process of changing things around. IG, one of the Citadelphia development team, indicated that there are some major rewrites going on with Citadel right now and that a rework of some issues with the rssclient is part of that. So, it is entirely likely that while I broke RSS, it was already in precarious shape before I pushed it over the edge. I am not sure I'll be able to fix it prior to whatever upgrade is coming down.
This is what my open tabs have looked like on most of my machines, for weeks now:
Reading back from the first post, all the way through - I wish I had abandoned Facebook and focused on The Sanitarium months and months ago. We had a small fire smoldering, but my inattentiveness allowed it to go out - and now I can't get it started again.
I keep thinking about advertising the BBS on other sources I'm active on, like Reddit - but I'm not sure I want to attract that kind of crowd.
The core users we had, when I was having DNS problems, I think some of them left and just stopped trying to come back. I'm not sure how to convince them to return - or in many cases, even who they were.
Also, getting it up stable and leaving it running and not fucking around with it might be a good idea.

I swear to God... one time out of 100, for some reason - something will go wrong, and I'll end up at a blank page, with "page not found" displayed in the upper left corner of the browser in plain black text. And one time out of 10, I'll be logged out when this happens, and I'll hit F5 to refresh the page...
And it will come back up and land at the Wiki page - like Clark Griswald's Christmas Tree lights coming on and blinding the Yuppie neighbors. A brief moment of, "YES! YES! That is EXACTLY what it is fucking supposed to do when you first land on The Sanitarium! That is what I want!"
And then, it is gone, and I have no idea what condition caused it to do that - and nothing I do will make it work again.

And then... finally:

I'll post a HowTO "Forget" a room document tomorrow - that is a feature so that if there is a room topic you NEVER want to see again, you can forget the room and it'll never show up when you visit.
Also - if there are particular Reddit .rss feeds you would like to see all posted here, kind of like an .rss newsreader - let me know and I'll create the room for you and add the feed.
Just tell me what Reddit you want to add.
I feel like all my friends are looking at my ads for Wallofhate.com and going:
Meanwhle, I'm sitting here going,
"No mods, and even if I disagree with you - I DGAF what you think. Have your say. Ideas should be free...."
And people are choosing, "I'd rather be told what I can and can't say."
I don't understand this.
Ig,
I felt like there was a caller-log function somewhere, but I can't seem to find it in the documentation, in the menus, or from the command line, or in my Linux history.
I feel like it is there, I'm just missing it?
The Amiga room has a TON of inline pictures. It takes a long time to load. The BBS isn't broken. It is that I have a 5mb/up pipe to feed you guys data. Wait. It'll come up. You'll be like, "wow! what a show off..."
I just noticed what the port number might mean.
Do I win anything?

Nobody has seemed to notice the Easter egg hidden at http://wallofhate.com/ yet though
Not sure why it is putting a space in the URL. Can't remove it. Delete the %20 and the actual page will come up, if it puts it in again.

I was just wondering where you disappeared to, by the way. Lots of posts I made recently thinking that you would dig them.
Well, its a pain to login on my phone,
New Firefox won't keep certificates, using Chrome now and it won't remember my password.
Firefox on desktop ok, but chair kills my back.
Trump depression syndrome is driving me insane.
YouTube ads counts and fascism madening, Facebook traffic way down. Splitting time between bitchute, rumble, oann, Newsmax, epoch times, select fox news shows. And reddit brigading. So many subs blocked.
Now I have to scour all these rooms, sheesh.
Rambling lunatic I am.
