Aldeberto's sounds familiar. Are you still in Sacramento? Is it a Sacramento place? Where is it?

Jack's tacos are an EXCELLENT Taco Tuesday twofer for 2/20/2022 - they even come as a two-fer.

I approve.

Yup, still in the general Sac area, though there are "Bertos" tacos down into SoCal and into some other states it seems. There is an almost-funny video that goes into it: https://youtu.be/cMxEGjLnjUU

Mine are Jack in the Box tacos, but they're plentiful.

I don't know what you could possibly owe me an apology for, but you were forgiven faster than instantly.  It helps that I was right all along. ;)

Thank you! Too true.

I'm pretty sure we've got all the MAJOR "'bertos" in Arizona. In particular, Filibiertos is infamous for killing a bunch of people from food poisoning around 2011-2013.

Our favorite is... ironically - Los Favoritos - not exactly a "bertos" derived establishment. We have several that are "in the model of" but not quite the same.

I'd trade them all for one Jimboy's.

But the one you named - sounds familiar to me - but not locally... so it must have been a place I went in Sacramento.

Ah, Jimboys. I used to regularly drive by one that retained the drive through window of the fast food joint it previously contained and would stop in now and then. A bit tough to eat without making a mess, but fun to try!

Adalbertos is our favorite, there are a few in Sac. The best of THEM is on Bradshaw, right off of 50 and it's been around a while.

Full blown invasion of Ukraine, everyone saw it coming for months and we're still unprepared. Chernobyl power plant hit by missile barrage, hope we don't have another radiation surge from there.

Well, we had a nice couple of decades without Russia as the bad guy. It was a good run.

I'm not sure Russia is the bad guy here. I think the US Administration welcomes the distraction - and frankly - have people fucking forgotten that the Biden/Ukraine scandal was a major controversy going into the 2020 election? It looks like a conflict of interest for the Biden family to have a US public policy position on this conflict. At the very least, it compromises any narrative coming from the White House about how legitimate or not the Russian action against Ukraine is - and *that* is a serious fucking problem.

I mean... what Canada was doing against its own citizens seems far less justifiable than whatever is going on with Russia and the Ukraine. It is their *own* European internal politics. It is kind of on par with if Texas were deciding it was going to secede from the union and this presented intolerable economic or domestic security risks to the United States.

This thing is a foreign dispute between two nations with a long history with one another. I'm not certain it is any of our business, as of yet.

The Chief of Russian space agency Roscosmos has threatened to drop the ISS on the US or EU if we don't remove economic sanctions against Russia. I wonder if he was holding his pinky to his lips when he said it.

I read that.

Although it wasn't quite put that way. It was a little more... diplomatic.

Watch Space Force on Netflix - they present the same thing - that our long standing Russian alliance in space could come back to haunt us.

Would you be happier if we were in a partnership with China? I'll circle back to this later - but *every* major Hollywood movie in the last 10 years has put China as a critical partner in our race to expand off planet.

I trust the Russians more than the Chinese, at this point.

I'm actually surprised that China hasn't used the world's focus on Ukraine to begin moving against Taiwan. Depending on how this all plays out, I could still see it happening.

Absolutely. They actually have already supported Russia's authority to invade the Ukraine - and I was surprised by that.

But framed in this context, it totally makes sense. "We support this, because if you think you're pissed about THIS... just wait..."

Apparently part of the Russian Ethos is the right to peacefully secede, which is why the soviet union falling apart was relatively bloodless.  I don't know how true it is, but I heard that Ukraine was preventing the people in eastern Ukraine from having a vote to secede, which is part of why Putin is angry with them.  The west trying to get Ukraine into NATO is also a sticking point, and the west is really doing everything it can to piss Putin off.  He's warned us for DECADES that certain behavour wouldn't be tolerated, so suddenly the Biden administration is doing all those things.  It's clear provocation.  We started this war, not Russia.

I'm not a Putin Fanboi exactly, but I have been interested in him for years and I've been watching him and learning how he works.  He's the smartest world leader alive with the best grasp of history and economics.  You can think of him as a bad guy if you want, but the literary villain he's most like is Vetenari from Discworld, or maybe Doctor Doom.  He cares about his people and is actually working for their best interest.  I do believe that he's hitting military targets in Ukraine to make his point, but I don't believe any report that says he's targeting civilians or the nuclear plant.  That's some False Flag bullshit that's more likely americans than russians.

Yeah... the problem is, that the Russians claim this about how the Ukrainians were treating the separatists, the West claims these are lies Putin is using to justify an invasion - and we're at the point that I don't know who to believe.

But it does seem like fast-tracking the inclusion of the Ukraine into NATO seems... like the opposite of seeking diplomatic resolution and de-escalation of the crisis. Literally - it seems so transparent.

"We've got to get them into OUR coalition of nations as soon as possible so we can PROTECT them..."

Are you sure that is the best way to keep them *safe*?

Seriously, if this was the ONLY thing I knew about this conflict it would still made me go "Hmm, maybe Putin isn't really the aggressor here", but there's so much more than just that.

It's really bizarre how anything Russia says is automatically propaganda and anything Ukraine says is definitely true even when we debunk it in less than 24 hours.

I'm not thrilled about any of this but if I had to choose a side to win at this point, I'm picking Russia.

Just read about a Russian racing team, automobile - that has gone, "We're out. You're discriminating. Everyone else can raise their flag, have their anthem, but we can't? We won't participate in this."

Fucking good for them. Remember when shit started getting heated in the US, and liberals like our friend Al Hollinger started going, "I can be a patriot for my country and still hate our government!"

How is this any different? And how is it not lumping in all people of a certain identity, regardless of their beliefs, positions or values - and punishing them for one event by one leader by refusing to acknowledge their patriotism for their culture, heritage and nation?

Short answer - it isn't. It is being guilty of exactly the kind of behavior you claim to reject.

The Left has too much global social influence, and it is *bad* for society. It is manifest in them deciding that certain behaviors of their opposition are intolerable - but engaging in the same behavior *against* their opposition and claiming it is just and moral because their opposition is "evil".

The major problem is that they can push forward agendas like this, and people either are in agreement or they're too afraid to speak up against what they know is injustice for being labeled "sympathetic" to things they disagree with. The people who are in agreement are ignorant *or* evil. It is a binary equation, supporting this. The people who are afraid are cowards. They're the same kind of people who let the Nazis and the Communists commit atrocities against their fellow citizens and fellow men.

We are in a truly dark time.

While I agree that the totality of information coming out is massively skewed towards the Ukrainian side, to the point of ignoring all nuance and objectivity, the reports from a number of sources seem to be that Russia is choosing a very smart, but incredibly ruthless method of securing Kyiv. Of course the dwindling amount of journalists there, has made confirmation of these tactics harder, but all reporting seems to indicate actual targeting of civilian locations, rather than doing as our government has done and just ignoring the fact that there is a school near the warlord we intend to drone-strike to death.

I saw video of Ukrainian women in front of a school berating soldiers for putting Howitzers in front of a school that was in session... literally telling them, "move them."

The distinction seems trivial - between using your civilians as human shields and targeting civilian locations of your enemies.

Everyone makes a claim - right - in this regard - and it seems that both sides have an incentive to behave in this manner. Using civilians as shields vilifies your enemies. Attacking civilians demoralizes your enemies.

Who you gonna believe?

Again... the US and the West have killed far more civilians, either intentionally, accidentally, or because they were being used as human shields, in the last 40 years, than Russia. We've been in a CONSTANT state of war with a number of nations.

I'm afraid we're going to start getting numbers coming in that show that Western Democracy killed FAR more than all the Communist purges, if we keep going in this direction. At some point you have to ask yourself, are we REALLY the good guys, still?

It's great to have you with us, Thanatos!

I've been busy building up a stack of marketing clients that are helping me break out of economic stagnation. I've given myself much more than the 7.9% raise I needed to keep up with inflation. But I'm right on the brink! If I get one or two more clients I can afford to subcontract some of the work out and I can scale. Meanwhile I'm chugging away doing a little too much and earning just a little better than getting by, but thank God for that.

I'm excited to launch a podcast that should help bring in some business. If that goes well, we'll figure out a way to get you all on if you like.

Probably not going to end soon. I know most of the media is saying if Putin doesn't win in 2 weeks he'll be out (they were saying that 2 weeks ago), but we know how much BS that is. The SOP in the past has been to send in the conscripts and the local partisans first and let them hammer it out in the meat grinder for a while. At some point Putin will bring out a portion of his massive reserves if he does intend to take Kyiv. That may force a moral check, I think Ukraine will pass that check and fight on. At some point Putin will determine he's gotten enough territory and call for a real cease fire and just solidify his gains.

Lots can happen. The Oligarchs could turn on him. We've already seen a half dozen yachts and a huge amount of property seized. I suspect that may never come back to its former owners. So it is slightly possible that Putin might suddenly pass from his cancer in the night and be given a Russian Hero's grave, as I'm sure it would be presented to the world, but I really don't think that is going to happen either. In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if his cancer wasn't a ruse as well, to make the west worry that he might be way more likely to push the button. If you're going to have a real ground game, you've got to keep the idea that the pass game is a possibility, to put it in football terms.

Wangiss! Nice to see you! Glad to be here. Glad your business is doing so well.
