I used to pick stuff up from Advance City occasionally, when I didn't want to drive out to the North Area. Right across from Gem Autowash and Far East Cafe, right? Used to be a Spouse Ritez in the 70s/80s there. :)
Next to a very dank, Chinese aquarium.
Mon May 24 2021 00:37:03 MST from Wangiss <wangiss@wallofhate.com>CCN is where I found the ad for my first computer. $920 for a full setup. Pentium system, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc. 1996? It was at Advanced City Computers on Freeport. Such an epic and memorable moment!
I was trying to explain to a non tech friend of mine what a BBS was/is... so I decided to show them BBS documentary on YouTube.
I never noticed before that Ignatius T. Foobar appeared in in, until now. Haaaa...

Really? Well, I think he was probably the world's last sysop, for a while. Do you have a link?

and in more detail in https://youtu.be/YTBImnpUBUw at 19:21 where he is identified as the SysOp of Uncensored!
Can't fully check it out right now - I'm at work.
The Internet is letting me down on giving me ways to dwaddle the day away instead of working.

The moment before I read this I was thinking, "Why am I watching an ayahuasca documentary while reading the Sanitarium?"
Procrastination urges, of course! Thank you for articulating my problem so I can solve it. Back to work! I can do this later.
Wrong answer. You must procrastinate on the Sanitarium as frequently as possible - far more than you currently do. You are wasting your procrastination at other, less satisfying destinations. They need to be cut out.
So that you can procrastinate here without wondering why you are watching an ayahuasca documentary and feel compelled to work. Work sucks. This is fun. You're doing things wrong.
As noted by it being nearly 8 hours later, and you still have not returned.

Dark side of the moon until Monday. Don't post too many messages and crash the BBS while I'm unavailable, again, guys. I hate it when you do that.
Maybe i am trying to decipher if this was a throwback complaint with a nod to the 90s, or maybe you are merely running us all (I guess both of us) on an experimental hosting platform.

I was out of town and poking fun at the huge volume of traffic this place enjoys. :)
My beautiful Samsung Note20 Ultra 5G phone finally hit the tile floor just right. Tech21 didn't save it. Screen protector didn't save it. But the only sad thing about it aside from waiting two days for the new phone to arrive is that {tears up a little} there's no newer, better phone to upgrade to. It's just the same old world's best phone. :(
That gave me a good impression.
To contrast that, I do remember logging on to Hue Jr's Test System. He seemed more like a grinch to me. I didn't really feel welcome. But the software intrigued me.
So, if I recall, Cynbe ru Taren really had a reputation as kind of the genesis of the Citadel concept - but he never did anything with it. Like - people just said, "He tried to make a room based D&D mud and abandoned the idea once he realized it wouldn't work - but that was the framework that became Citadel..." and that was it for his contribution to the Citadel phenomenon.
Hue Jr. had the reputation of being difficult - but being a major force in its early development on Z80 and then X86 architectures. I think I'm being diplomatic calling his reputation "difficult", too.
Tue Jun 01 2021 19:05:01 MST from ASCII ExpressI remembered something else about past Citadel authors. I did correspond with Cynbe ru Taren while in college. I found his page and it had a joke about a program, I forget what, and I emailed him about it. He whipped up a version of the joke in C and sent it to me. He said, "I've been coding C full blast since '79."
That gave me a good impression.

Somehow I missed this. I'm sorry. The worst thing for me with a replacement phone is it is almost guaranteed to be a refurb itself - factory rebuilt - and I always feel like those have a limited shelf-life - enough to get you through the end of the current warranty - but there was something wrong with them, and generally, the fix to "refurb" them is a temporary one.
I hope that isn't the case with your replacement. I hope you get a Better Than New one.

In the interest of attracting new users, would you be further interested in working with me to install a certificate on your citadel server authenticated by letsencrypt.org? We could get away from explaining to others about ignoring browser errors when visiting your site and it would elevate your content in the search engines we hate. It is not terribly complicated and I think eff.org subcribes to many of the values you and I embrace.
Cynbe spent a limited amount of time on commodore boards. He was a brilliant person to converse with but it was extremely difficult to keep the conversation in focus. He was way smarter than me.
