I got it all fixed up so this works and is easy to do - and there is no one left to actually see how I've improved it. Thank you for sharing this. :)
I was thinking, there used to be a time when there would be 3, even 5 people logged in at once, when this shit was running on a Pi. Now... one call every couple of weeks.
*sigh*
It is *kinda* creepy to be an adult male into manga and anime at this point - but I think that is just because the genre attracts a lot of creepy guys - and a lot depends on what you're into... Adult males our age who have a hard on for Sailor Moon and are completely disinterested in Speed Racer or Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato or G-Force/Gatchtman - those send up alarms for me.

I think it's perfectly fine to be into entertainment from the east. They aren't bogged down by woke culture and they're telling interesting stories. Being drawn just gives them more freedom with less special effects budget.
I agree with the hyper focus on creepy shit though.
I think it is perfectly fine, too.
But... it is still something that a lot of people don't understand.
And, because the hyper focus on creepy shit gets so much attention - and even the most innocent Japanese animation sometimes has different cultural values on what is "kawaii" and what is "creepy" than the west... That help reinforce Western reluctance to accept that it is an escapist media form that any adult male should be interested in.

Well, hentai was always part of the Japanese culture. It has been there all along. A big part of the issue is that the Internet allowed the WORLD to discover the genre - and the Japanese were always pushing the boundaries of what the world would find acceptable. There has also always been a challenge with non Japanese cultures seeing cartoons as an exclusively "child oriented" medium and Japan seeing the market as actually enabling adult story telling that, prior to CGI, wasn't available otherwise.
It actually makes it kind of amazing that the porn industry hasn't more fully embraced CGI porn. Not necessarily for anything nefarious (or MORE nefarious) than regular porn, but simply in order to enhance regular porn and to achieve things that are difficult or impossible to create on film without CGI. Instead, it was *comic adaptations* that benefited the most from CGI.
Sun Nov 28 2021 06:47:41 MST from kudutwell, no alarms needed. it's kinda clear what their real focus is. i was lucky to see star blazers as a kid, lost city of gold and one other one whose name escapes me, back in the early 80s. loved it, was amazed by it. then when japanimation then anime came in, i understood why people liked it over western cartoons but i'd stopped being involved in them. but now with hentai being synonymous with anime, well, it's the world it is. i think it's more than we lost our innocence than the world changing really.
So... this is a real thing.
