Subject: DE10 nano and current MiSter size

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

How crowded is the DE10 nano as of now with the MisTer cores? I'm interested since DE10 nano is medium sized at 110k LE ,but MisTer seems to grow and may go beyond that.

Subject: NES Core and the Golden Game

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Any chance that we can have the old multicart, The Golden Game, working on the NES FPGA core? This is a game that grew up with that has some compatibility issues and weighs a whopping 4MB. The rom file is generally named, "260-in-1.nes"

I understand that this is not going to be top priority but if there's some way to make it work on MiSTer FPGA, that would be awesome.

Subject: Best option for a low latency arcade stick?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Been looking around for options on arcade sticks and it gets a bit overwhelming but the google doc https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KlRObr3Be4zLch7Zyqg6qCJzGuhyGmXaOIUrpfncXIM/edit#gid=0 seems to provide a lot of great information.

The question that I have would be should I just build my own stick using an arduino and DaemonBite's method? It looks like it would give me the best performance or accuracy to a real arcade. I was initially thinking about the Mayflash F500 V1 but the latency seems pretty high, the 8Bitdo Arcade Stick looked pretty good but I cant find it in stock in Canada anywhere.

Anyone else prefer building their own? if so where are the best sources for shells, and premium buttons/sticks.

Thanks!

Subject: Lunar: The Silver Star - Redbook Audio Popping

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Has anyone else noticed that the audio is not perfect in Lunar 1 on the Mega CD MiSTer core?

It's especially noticeable on the world map. There are very slight skips in the music, which is Redbook audio.

I haven't noticed this problem in other games. It happens in both the USA release and the Unworked Designs version.

Has anyone figured out a fix for this?

BlisSTer v2 LLAPI LED Extender

I have been looking to extend the LLAPI LED for an enclosure front panel. I am unable to find any information on the PINOUT for this. The yellow circle highlights the area.

I'm assuming that it maybe 5v and two grounds?

I'm also guessing that I would need a resistor....

Thanks for the help...

Subject: Has anyone tried the Retro-Bit Saturn 2.4G controller with BlisSTer/daemonbites (Saturn receiver)?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

This controller doesn't support wired mode and wanted to know if the 16ms wireless (when connected to the standard USB ports with the USB receiver) can be improved by using one of the adapters (Blissbox/daemonbites adapters) for the Saturn receiver?

Mostly curious. I tend to use a 8Bitdo M30 wired but another option is always welcome.

Subject: Retrogaming shopping and Mister FPGA

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hey guys, I'm planning a 2 weeks trip to Japan next year (if all goes well, covid and everything). I have a MiSTer and despite my wishes of getting some retrogaming stuff there, I'm wondering what would really be worth it.

I already have some 8bit and 16 bits consoles but let's be honest, ever since I have my MiSTer, they are all getting dusty. Sure, I love my SNES and the feel of cartridges and original controllers, but the larger choice of games and the conveniency of FPGA gaming, HDMI (yeah I do have CRTs but I like HDTVs, savestates... it's quite nice too.

Collecting not to use it seems rather useless. Someone might as well make better use of it. And it takes spaces for no use. So I was wondering what could be potentially nice to get from there, and have found little to no answer really.

So what is your thoughts about that guys? What would you try to find if you were me ? Not talking about modern consoles, older computers, figurines, etc. Oh and I think I'll buy an analogue pocket in 2021 if that's possible. So handhelds seems kind of off limit too

Subject: 8bitdo bluetooth adapter won't pair when connected to usb hub

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have the 2.1 USB hub for my MiSTer. Wired connections work fine. My 2.4ghz M30 works fine. My logitech wireless keyboard works fine. My 8Bitdo bluetooth adapter will not pair when plugged into the usb hub. I press the button on the adapter and it does not blink. I can switch it over to a USB port on my PC and it will pair just fine. I have just updated the adapter to it's latest firmware (which did make the green indicator light on the hub come on as opposed to before the update) but that pairing button still won't work.

What is going on here and how can I fix this?

Subject: In your opinion, does MiSTer make Analogue's offerings redundant?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

First, I'm not judging either method. I love my Analogue consoles. I have the NES, SNES, and Sega and they're beautiful machines. But I also just purchased and got my MiSTer rolling and as you guys know, it's a beautiful piece of hardware itself.

I'm now considering selling my Analogue consoles because well, they're in high demand and combined I could make a pretty penny.

Is there any feasible reason to keep the Analogue consoles along with my MiSTer? Anything I'm missing?

Subject: MiSTer Composite adapter mAVster-MD2 Update

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

MiSTer Composite adapter mAVster-MD2 Update

All current orders are now shipped so time for a new round, I've been surprised how many people wanted this, or maybe it's an example of how quickly MiSTer's user base is growing?

Anyway, I thought it was time for a facelift, I never really liked the boring green PCB so let's make it black :)

I've also updated the "user guide", gives some important information but also pretty simple.

New pre-order closes and ships 08/03/21. We have just had a baby so not sure when I'll do another run, maybe a bit later in the year depending how this one goes.

Subject: 3D printed case for digital I/O board?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I am awaiting shipment of a bundled system with the DE10, the USB Hub, and the digital I/O board. I have found numerous beautiful case designs online for the analog I/O board, but none for the digital board's required cutouts. I suck at CAD, so does anyone know of any designs that work for that I/O board? Worst case, I can leave that plate out and have the backside open, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a case...

Thanks!

Subject: MiSTer - Better case options?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have the MiSTer along with a 3D printed case and the Analog IO, and USB hub. IMO, it's fugly.

I've heard there's a PCB case and an aluminum one, but after checking around, can't find either.

I have a few questions:

1) Where are the nicer cases?

2) Do I need anything (new USB bridge, for instance) along with the case?

3) Anything special I need to do to swap parts once I presumably acquire a nicer case?

4) I'm currently on 32MB. Mightaswell up to the larger 128MB when I get a new case. Are the issues with the modules (as per Jotego) resolved?
