Subject: An honest discussion about miser vs emulator lag.
I have used the mister and it is indeed excellent, particularly for 80s home computers, but I have one minor gripe about the discussions around this thing. The way mister evangelists emphasise retropie being "laggy" etc when hyping the mister seems a little bit misleading to me. I have original hardware, a pi 3b running crtpi on a crt tv and a mister and I honestly don't believe I'd be able to tell the difference in a blind test, particularly with the 8/16 bit consoles. It's becoming difficult to read anything about emulation etc these days that doesn't have people commenting with "you need to get a mister, it has no lag!!!", as if the other options actually have noticeable lag. I think I'm pretty sensitive to lag and find it noticeable enough to be annoying on modern screens but I think a lot of people are blaming the pi/software emulators for lag mainly caused by modern screens and laggy controllers. From using real hardware/crts/framemeister/mister/pi and all the rest I really don't think the emulation/fpga aspect is the main factor involved in perceptible lag. Have others found a noticeable difference in lag on the same screen with the mister vs emulation etc?

Subject: Help Req - MiSTer / Sega CD / Mortal Kombat / Only plays intro video, then resets
Am I missing something?
I've tried 3 different sources and all behave the same way. MiSTer will play the intro video (random kids running around the streets yelling Mortal Kombat), then the game boots back to the Sega CD main screen before playing the video again. Pressing start during the video only kicks me back to the Sega CD main screen quicker, lol.
So far other games seem to run fine such as Sewer Shark, Sonic CD, Afterburner and Star Wars (Though star wars seems to be really bad at controlling as I keep crashing in the training canon by the 3rd turn, lol)
Subject: Help! MiSTer - Neo Geo Core - Drivin' me nuts! The classic cannot see folders issue!
Hello, I will try and go in to as much detail as possible about this issue and what I have tried. I have done a bunch of searching and tried to piece together a fix, but have had no luck. I am having an issue with the MiSTer Neo Geo core. I load it up and click Load ROM set . but nothing shows up. My MiSTer is new, just got it yesterday. It came with an SD card preloaded and I have been able to access it via FTP. This is kind of a side issue, but I gave it a reservation in my router, used the samba enable script, but still can't navigate to it in Win 10. Regardless... I have tried the following. I have gotten all 5 bios files, including the newest Unibios. The guide says create a NEOGEO folder on the "root" of SD. I was not sure if it meant the Linux root, or the MiSTer "fat" root. Since the MiSTer software does not have access to the linux portion when browsing files I assume the guide meant the "fat" root. I created the folder there, put in the 5 bios files, and the romset.xml file. I got the romset.xml file from GitHub. I right clicked on the "RAW" button and saved as romset.xml, like I saw in a youtube video. This was not working. I looked up some forum posts and saw that another user had some luck by just putting the bios and romset files in the games/neogeo folder. I tried that and it does not work.
The roms - at first I was trying to use a romset I had. I am not doing that now. I got the darksoft pack, extracted it, and each game is in it's own folder under games/neogeo. ONE THING TO NOTE - The SD card that came with the MiSTer was only 8GB. This being the case I did not want to load the romset on to there; mainly because there is not enough space. I have attached a USB drive to the MiSTer. I thought maybe it could not find the folder on the drive, but I also have Sega Master System ROMs on there. I open the SMS core and it goes right to the SMS folder on the USB drive. I am not sure if the Neo Geo core is not doing the same? If not there is no way to navigate to it. The folder on the second drive is games/Neogeo .
I have updated the cores. I have manually removed the neogeo core, downloaded it again, and replaced it.
The core loads to just a black screen, but menu works.
I could not find neo-epo.sp1 for the life of me. I read somewhere that it is the same file as sp-e.sp1 . I renamed neo-epo.sp1 to neo-epo.sp1.
At this point I am stumped and I do not know what I am missing. I know this has been gone over many times, and I have tried to review previous fixes before posting. I just cannot get this to load correctly.

Subject: Which of the MiSTer devs us most likely to develop a Neo Geo Pocket Color Core?
I’m incredibly eager for a Neo Geo Pocket Color core on the MiSTer. I follow and support some of the different devs on Twitter and Patreon. However, no one seems to be talking about or doing any work towards creating this core.
Have any of the MiSTer devs expressed any interest in building a NGPC core? I’d be happy to donate some money each month towards a new Patreon or two if it would help to make this a reality. Not sure who to start with though.

Subject: Does Raphnet adapter work on MiSTeR board without powered hub?
Thinking about getting de10-nano and the multi classic adapter to use my classic 2.4g controllers. Don't want to buy an IO Board since I want to keep the design minimalistic, and use it on my OLED TV instead of CRT. Also don't want a 7 USB hub since it makes the case larger. Just planning on using an OTG dongle. Does Raphnet adapter work on MiSTeR board without a powered hub?
