Subject: The PDP Victrix Pro BFG is a great all in one controller for the MiSTer.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

This controller is really expensive, so I wouldn't recommend using it just for the MiSTer. But if you happen to have one, it's a really good all rounder for the MiSTer. The different d pads and configurations give it a familiar feel to certain cores. You can use the traditional cross dpad for nintendo styled games, and there's also a dpad reminiscent of a saturn or genesis. There is also an option to replace the right side with the six button arcade layout, so you can make the pad feel sort of like a sega controller. There's also a touchpad but I can't figure out hoe to get it to work. It doesn't feel exact to the console of course but it does feel really good and it approximates the layouts well.

Subject: forgive my ignorance - sound on a few old Arcade games -

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Just bought a full setup with ram, etc.

Just did the initial download and kicked off some arcade gaming. Most all of it is AMAZING, but space invaders? Yike. Instead of the cool "fssssss" when you fire it just goes "poing" lol.

Asteroids looks like someone has just .. emulated the real game .. "uniquely" .. and the fire sound is horrific.

Moon patrol has no sounds at all.

I've read as much as I can (like I see folks have been told to try new sound options if Genesis games don't sound correct) but I can't seem to find anything like that for the arcade games.

Anyone have any ideas or a place you can point me to to educate me? THANKS!

Subject: New system up and running - I'm blown away.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I grew up on Atari and TG16 and I KNOW those systems. I've played emulators for years and years and been "fine" with them, but I just assumed I'd gotten worse with age. I fired up HERO on the 2600 and it was JUST SO FLUID. I made it to level 7 before I lost a dude, and I haven't even SEEN level 7 in years. Same with Dragon Spirit on the TG. It's just crazy how good this is, and in such a small package.

Thanks to the community that supported this and brought all this to life!

Subject: Current state of PSX core with a VGA (PC) CRT monitor?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Can we use scandoubler now for the games that are 240p? It didn't work before as the bootupscreen is 480i and that scandoubled image on core load up doesn't work with pc monitors.

Is anyone playing laglessly on a PC crt monitor on this core without using vga_scaler?

Subject: central "repository" for cores?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Is there a one-stop-shop for beta (Jag, ps1) cores or is it more of a "google and find" thing?

Is there a way to support the folks involved (patreon?) in making new cores?

Thanks all!

Subject: Requesting a MiSTer core - is there a process to do this?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Greetings - I'm new to the MiSTer community and was curious if there is a formal way by which to log a request for a new core to be developed?

I've looked through all of the "official" cores as well as the add-on cores (Jotego, etc.) and haven't found anything yet for Sega's Astro Blaster (arcade) and that's one that I would dearly love to play on this platform.

I'd appreciate any insight on this, as I'm not sure of the etiquette of making such a request or even who to direct the request to - if anyone.

Thanks for the help here!

Subject: Question about other FPGA platforms

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

This is entirely a kind of dumb question but I felt like I should ask it.

If I understand correctly that Sega Saturn and maaaaayyyyybbbbeeeee n64 (though extremely unlikely) are kind of the upper limits of the MiSTER and cyclone V, would a higher end chip like a Cyclone 10 be capable of running more advanced hardware from n64 to like max original xbox and equivalent Arcade platforms, or is that still currently impossible

Subject: Missing MiSTer cores?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hey team, I just set my stuff up and I’m up and running. Stoked. I went to go load up one of my fav toaplan titles - Out Zone - and it seems it’s not listed in the cores on my box.

Is there some manual work to be done to get this and the other toaplan titles (also missing) going?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Is there any settings or correct firmware to get the 2600 daptor 9 working with MiSter? I can get it working like a 2600 joystick, although it seems the 2nd button is the fire, not the first. I've just retested this joystick on my old 7800, so I know it works.

Any luck ?

Subject: X68000 Keyboard Solutions / Missing Sound Effects

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi team!

I've really been loving playing X68000 games on MiSTer, but it seems that I'm limited on it right now in that there are some keys on the original X68000 keyboard that do not exist elsewhere.

I spent a load of time digging around on google and forums and didn't seem to get any closer to an answer on how to work this... but for example - how the heck do I press the XF3 key?! Certain games seem to require this key, and a handful of others, to function properly.

Additionally - has anyone else noticed the missing sound effects in Final Fight and a few others?
