Subject: I have long been on the RetroDriven update script but now that he plans to end of life the script in January what update script does everyone plan to use?

I understand with his new baby that he doesn’t have time to continue this but it’s really a sad day. It has been my go to Mister Update script.

Subject: Poor quality audio through audio jack on DE10 Nano - Mister

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

First of all, im a noobie to FPGA stuff so i dont even know if i have an error here or not. Ive got everything up and running - running on my old CRT and everything looks amazing, my problem is the sound.

I thought it was just the TV at first that was causing the noise but after trying seperate speakers i still get terrible interference noise and really low sound output out of the audio socket. Is there any suggestions one could have? I double checked the jumpers on the board - the 4 slide switches are all down and the FPGA configuarion mode switch is as the reference in the manual for the DE10.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Subject: MiSTer wreaking havoc on ARC

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Good Morning,

I have a MiSTer setup with a DE-10 NANO, 128MB RAM kit, USB Hub, and standard IO daughter board. After playing some Turbo Grafx games and shutting off my MiSTer, ARC or Audio Return Channel quits working for my other devices that are plugged directly in to the television.

For example I have my NVIDIA Shield plugged in to HDMI 1 on my television, which then outputs audio to my AV Receiver via ARC. I can get video from the NVIDIA Shield on the TV but no audio. The only way to correct this seems to be unplug the HDMI cord from the MiSTer, and power cycle my AV Receiver. The MiSTer is plugged in to the receiver not the television.

This happens on both my setups. Both televisions are LG OLED's, and one receiver is an Onkyo and the other is a Pioneer Elite.

Any idea what is going on here? or any solutions?

Subject: is there a way to change the input lag settings for each core?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Guys, I need some help ..

I'm using my MiSTer FPGA with the LG C9 TV .. I really Like the lowest input lag option .. but Unfortunately, when playing some games using the GB And GBA cores I get lots of drop signals, unlike any other cores !!

My Question is there a faster way to change the input lag settings or can I use different input lag settings for each core?

thank you all in advance :)

Has anyone experienced Neo Geo games freezing on the MiSTer? For instance Metal Slug 5 will freeze when the countdown timer hits 58 on the first level every time I play it.

Looking for fewer visual glitches and something that can replicate ghosting, like the GBA core's flickerblend feature.

What HDTVs have you found to pair well with analogue consoles? Is 1080p superior to 4K? I’d like something small. 22”-27”. Input lag is my biggest concern.

Subject: Controller Questions

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

My DE10 Nano is in the post, so it's time to get some wireless ontrollers.

I read that good wireless ones are the 8bitdo M30 2.4Ghz. I think they need a daemonbite to convert DSUB9 to USB, one per controller adapter.

So question 1) Can I use multiple M30s, or do they interfere with each other?

Question 2) Can a passive USB expander power the multiple arduinos and adapters?

Question 3) if the answer is 'no' to 1 or 2, how about using a single bluetooth receiver for multiple M30 bluetooth controllers?

Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting Mister running!

Subject: Is an analog signal the same if it goes to a CRT or a new HDTV with analog inputs?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Analog signal is best because its lag-free to my understanding. So if I do want to play lag-free do I need to find myself a CRT tv or will using VGA or composite cables to my HDTV be lag-free as well?

Subject: SNES Build - What parts are necessary?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I haven't been able to find a definitive answer so any help is greatly appreciated. I just ordered the DE10 and the passive USB hub but was wondering if I needed to upgrade the ram and if I needed the I/O board. And if I DO get the I/O board to run both analog and digital video outputs at the same time is the RAM then necessary?

Eventually I'll do all the necessary upgrades to be able to utilize all consoles but money is tight right now and I'm focused on playing SNES Super Mario World Romhacks lag free.
