So this new script show up in Mister. What’s the difference between that and Update All?

New settings are necessary with the advent of the new video processing system. I think that this new attempt is much closer to replicating the look.

Subject: MiSTer made me realise that I can't play without savestates

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've been emulating for many years and I rely on savestates to get me around some of those less than ideal retro game issues. Cheap deaths, 1 hit kills, no checkpoints, limited lives.

I give the MiSTer a try and I'm enjoying it, it's a fun device to play with. But then it takes falling into one off-screen spike pit which then returns me to the start of the level to remind me just how much I miss savestates!

As an adult I don't have as much time to deal without old school game design any more

How do you find playing without savestates in cores that don't support them. Do you miss them? Have you changed the way you play games to go without?

Subject: MiSTer HDMI (Direct Video) to Composite Solutions without dot crawl?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Are there any viable solutions for getting Composite video out of the HDMI port in direct video mode that eliminate the dot crawl found on the typical adapters like Antonio Villena's?

In case the PSX and Saturn cores require two SDRAMs, I'd like to know what my options are without the analog board for getting Composite.

I would buy one of the linuxbot3000 converters on ebay, but out of stock, and I'm not even sure if that'd get rid of the composite dot crawl.

Subject: VGA to component cables work on Misterfpga IO board to CRT?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello, might be a bit of a noob question, but do VGA to component cables work for hooking up your MisterFpga analogue IO board to a component CRT tv? I have seen some mixed information saying that you may need a transcoder box as VGA cables don't convert signals to RGB.

This is the cord I bought off amazon:

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B001O8C6HM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

I am unsure if this cord will work for me or what the intended cable setup for running off the analogue IO board to CRT is supposed to be. Any feedback is appreciated!

Subject: Feasibility question

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Those Chinese RGB display panels have caught my eye again and it seems the prices have dropped quite a bit in the past decade making a 320x240 or even bigger array semi-afordable. How much effort or would it even be possible to implement a display driver for one of these using the GPIO on mister?

Subject: Did Mr Fusion fry my DE10 Nano's HDMI?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Having not used my MiSTer in a while I decided to start from scratch with the latest Mr Fusion image. It booted up, displayed the splash screen for a couple minutes and then rebooted. After rebooting there was no output from the HDMI port. I tried re-flashing the image to the SD card and this time I didn't even get the splash screen. Could it have bricked my Nano somehow? I didn't think code running from an SD card could flash the board itself.

Subject: Are there any alternatives to the DE-10 for fpga gaming?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

The DE-10 is a pretty expensive bit of hardware, and I'm not interested in playing games much beyond the SNES / Mega drive era, therefore I was wondering if there are any cheaper boards to try FPGA gaming on?
