Subject: I noticed that the fan on my MiSTer is not running, and I am wondering if it only activates at certain times or if I am having an issue
my family has graciously gifted me a pre build=t mister system for christmas and I have finally gotten all of the kinks and oddities worked out, but I am a bit weary about the fan. I noticed that it was not running while I was using the system, and I was wondering if that's an issue or if the system just has some way of knowing when to start running the fan. I am not too worried as the system is working just fine and i hear only a heatsink should serve you well, but I want to make sure there are no issues here. Thank you for reading!

Subject: Riding Fight - A Beat Em Up On A Hoverboard and why I hope the F3 system comes to MiSTer
Terasic back at it again with the upgrade to the price of DE10-nano kit. The wall between retro gamers and FPGA just got 10 feet taller?
Academic price was $105 in Feb 2021 when I bought it (+$20 FedEx fast shipping). Now the academic price is $173, regular price is $208. Word is on the street that all retailers increased price. Is this due to chip shortage, or inflation?
- Price before April 2021: $135
EDU before April 2021: $115 (On website, but in invoice, they charged $105)
Price as of April 2021: $170
EDU Price as of April 2021: $146
Price as of December 2021: $208
EDU Price* as of December 2021: $173
*EDU Price requires verification as of December 2021, whereas it was just a matter of an email beforehand.

Subject: Interference noise on Mega Everdrive Pro when unplugging 8-BitDo receiver. Anyone know what’s causing this?
I'm planning to put my Mister into a mini ITX case, and I'm currently hunting for which one would be best for me. I made a small spreadsheet, if you're interested: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MfPCDEPMn2ACU2ywppjNc8BWWvSd-KYfctc8vvbp-jk/edit?usp=sharing
Currently my biggest wishes are:
- Small size
- At least two USB ports on the front
- Internal PSU would be nice
- Looks nice?
I haven't found any cases that provide all four to my satisfaction! But I'm currently leaning towards either the Chopin Pro (although I don't love the look) or the Goodisory A01 (despite needing an external PSU).

Subject: Difference between Antonio Villena MiSTer RAM modules??
Does anyone know the differences between Antonio's 128MB modules?
https://www.antoniovillena.es/store/product/sdram-module/
Specifically, between the v2.9 128MB and the "4C" 128MB modules... Which is better and why? Is the 4 chip more stable or does the v2.9 spec make it a moot point?
(I already know that one uses 2 chips and the other 4 chips)
Appreciate any info.

Subject: Vortex - Intel Agilex FPGA PCIe Accelerator - does this have possible applications for gaming?
Subject: When will FPGA become more popular & mainstream?
I am an ex-Xilinx employee who's now a pure SWE.
I got to work on some of the key building blocks of the first ACAP device back in 2019 during the first tapeout to sampling period.
Although I am now a pure SWE, I always like to read about developments in the hardware domain ranging from new process nodes like GAA, CFET, High-NA EUV, and new architectural paradigms like heterogenous computing and 3D IC packaging.
Now that we are nearing the end of the process node shrinking, which could arguably go down to 0.7nm through CFET, it seems like the industry is putting more emphasis on 3D packaging and heterogenous integration, as evidenced by AMD-Xilinx merger.
Do you think that as the demand for heterogenous integration increases, and people realize that major performance gain from here on out can be mainly derived from non-traditional computing blocks like FPGA, do you think that the industry or engineers will put more emphasis on FPGA?
What do you think is the main reason why FPGA is not gaining more popularity?
is it difficulty, or due to lack of open source, or simply because the industry didn't see sufficient need to accelerate computation through FPGA?

Here is the comparison album (link). I apologize for the crummy CRT photography! Looking at the macro of the 4K tv, I see that the geometry of the scanlines/shadow mask is not true to the PVM’s, but at the distance I sit away from the TV it looks right to my eyes.

Subject: Mister FPGA - Picture quality slightly worse than Pi
I compared the same game side by side, and the Pi looks ever so slightly better, you can really see the pixels better. The Mister does look fantastic, don't get me wrong, but it seems like the Pi looks just a little more crisp. Also, the Pi seems to have a more accurate aspect ratio.
On my Mister, I have integer scaling off. It's the default setting where it fits the screen, but my Pi is set that way as well.
I don't have pics, but will post them. Sorry, I'm not home but I gotta post this because it's on my mind and gotta submit this thread right away while it's on my mind lol.
Not complaining about the Mister, just wondering if this is normal.
