Subject: Bought Mega SD used....firmware help

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

So if firmware updates are tied to the serial number and I bought it used.....and already tried to register but shows the serial number is already taken. Am I screwed? I reached out to the seller but am not too confident he is going to help me out with account info. Are the firmware updates tied to the serial number in such a way that even if I found an upload of the file it would not work because I have a different serial number? Feeling like I should have gone the Mega EverDrive route but there were some things I liked about the Mega SD. I'd like to have both but I'm broke as a joke rn.

Subject: MT32-Pi works great on my Pi Zero 2

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Just reporting to all and sundry that I replaced my venerable Pi 3A in my MT32-Pi with a Zero 2 and it works flawlessly with lower power requirements (no whining about voltages on the OLED anymore!) and essentially identical performance. I stuck it in a small 3D printed case with the pins exposed, swapped the SD card and that was all I needed to do.

Hopefully as supplies of the Zero 2 ramp up we won't have to go looking for the 3A anymore. It's cheaper, faster in terms of CPU, requires less power, and is smaller. Can't ask for more than that.

Subject: Select arcade cores not working properly (black screen, visual artifacts)

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hey all! I've been using mister for the past year, and recetly, some problems began appearing

  1. Dodonpachi (Japan) only shows black screen, while curiously, the main Dodonpachi core works juset fine.
  2. Super Street Fighter Turbo shows visual artifacts and flickering, while other cps2 cores seem to be working fine (haven't tested all of them).

I can't seem to find other people with similar issues, so I assumed that my ram expansion became faulty. However, it goes through memtest at 140Mhz just fine.

I've tried completely formatting & reinstalling from scratch, but the problem persists.

I'm fine with replacing my ram expansion, but I'm just not sure what is causing this issue.
Any help would be appreciated.

Subject: Mister w/ iPad screen 2048 x 1536 sync

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I recently got my iPad display up and running, but I don't seem to be able to sync very well with the video mode set to the iPad screen's 2048 x 1536 resolution. Genesis barely works and NES and SNES won't sync at all. I've heard that a certain kind of HDMI cable is needed but I've also heard that it really comes down to the chips on your specific DE-10 board being able to handle the burden of outputting a resolution that high which is outside of it's specification. Does anyone have any pointers for me? Setting the output to 1440p works fine.

Subject: Finding US-based kits

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi all,

Does anyone know where to find a complete kit (or, at the very least, a DE-10) in the US? There's a few overseas folks still selling, but shipping is 3-4 weeks minimum and I don't want to have to deal with potential customs issues.

Sold my existing complete package to someone that offered for a profit, figuring I could just get a replacement...ya, I'm an idiot, probably should have checked to see that everything is sold out.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Subject: How realistic is it to expect N64 on the Analogue Pocket eventually?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi everyone, I'm really interested in getting into FPGA gaming. I understand N64 is going to take some time before it's perfect.

What are the general feelings about the Analogue Pocket's hardware eventually being capable of N64?

Of course, without an Analog stick it's poorly equipped to play them, but with USB ports on the dock, I'm happy to connect a controller.

I understand that the Pocket has two FPGA chips, and only one is available to developers. What seems to be the upper limit of performance, regarding video game consoles? Or is it too early to tell?

I'm a developer myself, and I fully understand that this limitation might not be completely understood yet, as it also relates to how creative developers are with their projects.
