Subject: MiSTer, LCD and simple CRT curvature shaders

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi

I have just discovered MiSTer and looks amazing. Even if I know that the real retro experience is only achieved with a real CRT gaming monitor, I'd like to plug the MiSTer to a modern LCD monitor for many reasons (space, life span...)

Currelty I use Retroarch on a LCD and I'm happy with the CRT shaders, even the simpler raspberry pi ones (zfast...) Is there _any_ hope to get simple CRT shader implemeting cuvature in MiSTer, or simply the MiSTer hardware will never be able to cope with the simple shaders designed for raspeberry pi?

Cheers!

Subject: Case vs. Cover?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Getting my kit from MisterAddons in a few days but they are sold out of cases. I've seen a few sellers on Etsy with some slick looking top and bottom covers instead of a full case.

Is there a preferred way that others are protecting their systems? Would having just the top and bottom acrylic put the system at long-term risk?

Thanks for any help.

Subject: 8bitdo 2.4g pads conflicting.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

So my plan was to use one of my 8bitdo PC engine pads for tgx16, 4 bit, and 8 bit cores..... Then my m30 2.4g 8bitdo for 16bit and up.

Originally setup mister and been playing with m30 with no issues. As soon as I plug in the pce pad the m30 goes haywire and starts automatically using a dpad input.

Maybe I could swap back and forth if I always keep one off but then how would I play 2p if these 8bitdos don't even play nice together?

I read manual on the 8bitdo pce pad and there's no options to change modes.

Anyone get these 2 pads to work together?

Subject: There's a lot to take in - Starting from scratch, what's everything I would need for a mister I could connect to a PVM via BNC cables?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I'm assuming it's compatible with raphnet adaptors out of the box, as that's largely what I would be using as far as controllers go

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I’m about to buy a Prebuilt Mister from Mister Kits. What storage does it use for the roms? Do I use an external hd, micro sd or regular sd?

Subject: How to use the Micro USB in the 8bitdo Gbros. Adapter for the Switch?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

So I believe the batteries died using my 8bitdo Gbros. Adapter wirelessly. Apparently, there's a way to connect it to the Switch using a wired Micro USB cord. But that hasn't been working for me. Is is supposed to be using only the blue super short USB cable it came with? Or can something like my phone charger work as well? And it's supposed to be slugged into the Switch Dock, and not the wall, right? (With a USB charger). I can't find the blue super short micro USB cable it came with at the moment.

Subject: What's the reason MiSTer is limited to 128MB RAM sticks?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Probably a question that's been answered before in a place I can't seem to locate so apologies in advance.

What's the reason we can't do a 256MB or 512MB single stick of RAM for MiSTer instead of needing to potentially resort to dual 128MB sticks down the road? I'm assuming it's a hardware limitation in addressing?

Subject: MISTer FPGA - PCE/TG 16 CD saving games - Need Assistance

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello, I am very new to FPGA gaming and haven't really dabbled in emulators since the late 90s. I am finally getting to mess around with Rondo of Blood on my Mister FPGA, and cannot figure out how to save/load game files.

When I die I have the option to save my game, but when i restart the core, the save file is not there. I have now watched the 2 minute long opening scene 10 times. I see the autosave and Load RAM/Save RAM when i'm in the OSD menu, but not really sure about the functionality. Can someone please assist?

Subject: Couple of GameBoy Color questions

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi all,

Been adding my ROMs to the folders and had a couple of questions:

  1. Is there a separate core for the GBC vs. just the regular GB? Mine is named Gameboy_20210930.rbf.
  2. What format do the files need to be in? Mine are currently zipped files of .gbc, do I need to unzip those first and will the MiSTer recognize .gbc files?

Thanks for any help.
