Subject: MiSTer: Minimize screen size for handheld cores?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Thanks to the advice I received here last week, I now have my MiSTer up and running. Everything is up to date and the games play fine. I even successfully transferred my Everdrive save files over as not to lose any in-game progress.

Now, I'm looking to fine-tune a few things. The issue I'd like to tackle first is the screen size for handheld cores. I'm not a fan of full-screen scaling and would like them to be smaller with denser pixels. To give you an example from my handhelds, I'd prefer to play GBA games on a DSi as opposed to an XL.

Although I see many posts and recipes to scale things up, how do I do the opposite? In fact, I think some of the 8 and 16-bit cores could benefit from the same. I think a CRT would quickly fulfill my desires, but for now I need to make do with my 55 OLED LG.

Are there menu/MiSTer options where I can just begin with the original resolution for a console/handheld and bump it up by multiples (1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x) or does all that need to be customized manually?

(To be clear: Yes, I want to play the game in a small centered square with black borders all around.)

Subject: MSDEXP plus Everdrive Pro

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Wondering why the MSDEXP is only compatible with the MegaSD. Anybody know? I was planning on buying a MegaSD specifically to use the MSDEXP, so I wouldn’t have to disconnect my 32x to play Sega CD games. Now that the Mega SD is out of stock everywhere, I’m wondering if there’s any hope for the Everdrive Pro to work through the MSDEXP.

Subject: Amiga 600 keyboard and Keyrah MISTer compatibility

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have a spare Amiga 600 chassis and keyboard and I was thinking about fitting a mister inside it, I have two major doubts though:

  1. Does the A600 keyboard have all the necessary keys? Or do I need a PC keyboard in order to reach all the functions?
  2. Is the Keyrah V2b keyboard interface (and its 2 DB9 joystick ports) compatible with the mister? In that case, will there be lag issues with the joysticks?

Subject: When they think we will have a CPS3 Core?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

If there will be or is there a CPS2 battery suicide prevention module...this mean CPS3 can be a core soon.

I wanted to have a seudo FB Neo Arcade Machine someday.

Subject: Mister not detecting SD card

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

After months of using the SD card with no issues it suddenly stopped working after updating the cores i had installed. I've tried using diskpart to clean the card and then installed Mr Fusion but once inserted back into the mister the mister just sits there with the fan active but no activity from any of the lights on the I/O board. Ive used another SD card i have which works but not large enough for my core setup i run.

Edit- The card is detected by windows and everything goes as it should installing Mr Fusion with win32disk imager. The problem is solely with the mister.

If anyone has any idea's it would be appreciated.

Subject: Mister: Possible to remap keyboard keys to joystick buttons?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Is it possible to remap keyboard keys to joystick/controller buttons? I’m trying to play Turrican on C64 and want to remap the space key to one of the buttons on my joystick. I see in the github it says “keyboard can be switched to joystick emulation” and says to press numlock or scrlock to change modes but neither key seems to do anything. The ability to map keyboard keys to joystick buttons is not and option in the C64 core itself either. The github mentions “KBD TOGGLE” but I can’t find that option either! Any help appreciated.
