Subject: Is there a scanline generator that works with MiSTer?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

*To clarify, a scanline generator that works on the VGA output via io board.

Not liking how the scanlines options are handled on MiSTer (impact both HDMI and analog output, and set per core so they can't be globally enabled/disabled via an alt ini file), I purchased the Mcbazel scanline generator from Amazon.

Initially the scanlines were flickering, but that was fixed once I enabled composite sync in the ini file. Unfortunately it doesn't work correctly, generating greenish scanlines instead of black: https://imgur.com/a/pjP2bJX

I initially assumed it was defective so I returned it and got another but the replacement does the same thing. I've also tried messing with the pots, but all are turned as far clockwise as possible.

Does anyone have a recommendation for scanline generator that works on the MiSTer and is actually available for sale?

Subject: What are common symptoms of an inadequate power supply?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Things worked fine but then suddenly Mister could not find files on my flash drive. It seems to detect that a drive is there, I can switch to it, but no files are found. My USB controller seemed a little flaky as well.

I've ordered a new PSU; but was wondering if anyone else has had issues with power draw long after plugging new things in? My biggest worry is that I broke something... my Mister fell a few feet onto the floor the other day. I've heard the USB connection is kind of flimsy.

I would think the USB connection either works or it doesn't, so I'm hoping it's just the PSU issue. What have you folks encountered when plugging too many things in on the OEM power supply?

Subject: Duplicate cores after running update script?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Help please?!

After running the update script I now have duplicate cores on the menu... for example “computer”, “computers” and “console”, “consoles”

Anyone know how I can prevent this happening on future updates?

Subject: MiSTer FPGA owners - what got you into it?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Used to be all about original hardware, but in order to save money and room in my tiny apartment, I built a Raspberry Pi. Didn't even know MiSTer FPGA was a thing. Had I known, there's a chance I would have went that route instead. Whole I love my Raspberry Pi, I also enjoy accuracy so a MiSTer FPGA probably would have been a better fit for me.

What about you? Did you start off with a Raspberry Pi? Did you once prefer original hardware like myself? What got you into MiSTer FPGA?

Subject: 8bitdo controllers & wired USB - Same VID/PID?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I just got a few 8bitdo controllers to use with my MiSTer, and I noticed that they all share the same VID/PID when in wired USB mode, which throws the button mapping all out of whack across different controller types (as the MiSTer assumes they are all the same controller). Is there a way to change this? Has anyone even had this problem here?

Subject: How do Jotego cores work?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Can someone explain to me how the Jotego cores work. I haven't tried any of his cores. I have a MiSTeR and run the update scripts.

Do I need to subscribe to his Patreon in order to run his cores?
