Roger Waters stopped making music many years ago. He can die now and it wouldn't be a loss. One less communist in the world.
You should freely exchange the music he made to honor him.
Mostly I get my music via YouTube with an ad blocking plugin, so Google doesn't get ad revenue from my clicks

I'm on board with honoring socialist and communist artists by freely distributing their intellectual works.
Anyone planning to see the new Star Wars? I probably will, because I can't help but need to know how they're going to wrap this thing up after the last train wreck.
Mon Dec 16 2019 01:47:55 MST from TheDaveAnyone planning to see the new Star Wars? I probably will, because I can't help but need to know how they're going to wrap this thing up after the last train wreck.
And what a fucking train wreck it is looking to be. $45 million dollars off the opening of The Force Awakens, critics hate it, fans are divided, nobody is happy, Disney is down 1% in trading.
The media is backing off a LITTLE on the partisan spin - I read a Slate review that said,
"if the reason you dislike TLJ isn't misogyny or racism, it is fine to dislike it - but..."
Then went on to pretty much suggest if you like the changes made in The Rise of Skywalker, it is probably because you're a misogynist or racist.
What is going to happen when the senate dismisses the charges against Trump, and then he wins in 2020? Are they ever going to realize that these divisive Identity Politics agendas are a loser. You can never do enough to satisfy SJWs.
There are already arguments that The Rise of Skywalker condones abusive relationships by displaying an relationship between Rey and Kylo. The LGBT community is calling the "gay scene" in the movie "pandering."
They never are able to satisfy the marginalized group they're trying to be inclusive of - and in the meantime they generally piss off at least HALF of their mainstream audience with the SJW virtue signaling.
But the more they lose - the MORE they double down on exactly the behavior that they're losing because of.
I'm planning on stealing it, as soon as it hits Torrents. I'm not giving a dime to Disney for this fucking shitshow.
Here we talk about the latest movies, and how social virtual signalling is ruining cinema. And, related subjects.
Rewatched the Lord of the Rings and then the Hobbit. LoTR holds up well. The Hobbit, not at all. Lord of Rings diminished the novels, but managed to stay true to the source material overall and avoid too much injection of modern Hollywood Political Correct agenda into the films. They were epic movies, if not nearly as epic as what they were based on. The Hobbit on the other hand, tarnishes the legacy of the Lord of the Rings as cinema. It was too frequently hokey, contrived and transparently sentimental. It relied on the worst executed tropes of Lord of the Rings to carry its weight, and suffered because of that. The Battle of Five Armies was the worst of the three. Scene continuity that made no sense, purely popcorn blockbuster spectacle. It may have been the biggest move towards movies that were simply a thrill ride, instead of having any substance - or at least, the pendulum had swung in the direction of putting thrills ahead of coherent and consistent storyline. It strayed unforgivably from the original source material in multiple cases - almost always in an attempt to telegraph a PC message. Those were around in The Lord of the Rings - but they were not executed like a dwarf beheading an orc with a war hammer.
If you're looking for a way to kill some time during social isolation - Lord of the Rings extended version is a great way to eat up some time. But if you want transparent thrill rides - the Harry Potter series is a better adaptation than Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit."
Ok... Is St. Elmo's Fire worth watching? I've never seen it and don't even have any idea what it is about. But I've been listening to that song for 30 years now.
Oddly enough, without knowing much about it - the few scenes I have managed to be exposed to over the years made me feel like it would be just like this:
It centers on a clique of recent graduates of Washington, D.C.'s Georgetown University, and their adjustment to post-university life and the responsibilities of adulthood
St. Elmo's Fire is most appealing when it simply gives the actors a chance to flirt with the camera, and with one another. When it attempts to take seriously the problems of characters who are spoiled, affluent and unbearably smug, it becomes considerably less attractive.
I always figured it was like a far less interesting Less Than Zero. How astute of me.

That is why cinema is dead, Hollywood is hopeless and must be nuked.

You know my philosophy is that intellectual property theft is social protest, not criminal behavior. It is like Sir Francis Drake being a Privateer and not a Pirate. He was in the service of his country harassing and causing economic damage to the enemies of England. It is our job to do the same to the enemies of the United States and its constitutional Republic.
For the good of the country.
I bought Bill and Ted 3. It was weaker than the other two but not the dumpster fire I was worried it might be. I regret nothing.

That is actually good news. I'd like to see Hollywood being a little more cautious about pushing divisive ideologies constantly in every movie. I've had my fill.
I'd like to just be mindlessly entertained and occupied, things Hollywood is infinitely qualified to do... be mindless and preoccupying.
Ratched is a decent series, with a good plot, and the lesbian supblots actually seem to fit the story transparently and in a way that adds additional depth and complexity to the plot.
But, this is late 40's/early 50's America and it is a luxurious Sanitarium catering to high profile and wealthy clients - but *black* people keep showing up and getting treated just like every other patient.
That is disruptive to the storyline - even in California, even in a nuthouse, in this time period. The inauthenticity of it for the sake of social justice disrupts the suspension of disbelief. I keep finding myself going, "THAT would never happen...." and it isn't the story itself... it is the black schizophrenic women they've admitted to the hospital who has a full, lush room to herself and the entire staff treats her with dignity and compassion as she assumes the identity of Jesse Owens paranoid that Hitler has escaped to Argentina and is coming for him(her).
This is where Hollywood continuously jumps the shark. Treat this character period appropriate, and I'd find her more compelling as a character.
And, inline photo attached - I'm not the only one who thinks that the Jesse Owens thing is taking it too far:
"• But then we might get more Charlotte Wells. And is one of her personalities Jesse Owens? She talks about winning five Gold medals in front of Hitler but Owens only won four. Still, it feels like that’s who it’s supposed to be. This character makes me very nervous, and not in a good way."
So tonight on Netflix, we watched a Russian original Global Pandemic Apocalypse called, "To The Lake."
The interesting thing is that:
1: Not *one* person of color, at all, even just standing around as an extra. EVERYBODY is white. They're not even making a token effort.
2: No LGBT themes.
3: No token Muslims
It made me think - what if it ends up that the last bastion against Cultural Marxism and their rampant identity politics to try and force Socialism/Communism on the world ends up being *Russia*?
And more than that - should Russia be on my short list of nations to flee to if I decide to GTFO of a collapsing US to somewhere that I'm not going to be the bad guy because I am straight, white, male and not willing to accept that everyone else is fucked because I perpetuate the power of the Straight White Male patriarchy?
This wouldn't have seemed like a plausible scenario to me 4 years ago. But at least in Russia you *know* that organized criminals run the country. They're not hiding it and *pretending*. They're not politicians hiding that they're organized crime lords. They're organized crime lords pretending that they're politicians. I think I prefer the latter. At least you know where you stand.
I've said for a long time that if I could be ruled by the Mob instead of the Government I would, because at least you can pay to have someone you hate whacked if they step on your toes too much and they know better than to squeeze too hard. You can talk to them, get a favour. You'll owe them, and you'll definitely pay for it, but at least they're accessible.
"what if it ends up that the last bastion against Cultural Marxism and their rampant identity politics to try and force Socialism/Communism on the world ends up being *Russia*? "
Makes perfect sense honestly, they already know the road that leads down and are happy to nuke people who try that shit.

Well, and I hear all the time that all the oligarchs are former KGB strong men.
Who've evidently found that the rewards of embracing an open capitalist society are actually far *greater* than of a closed, Communist one. They didn't have 200 foot super yachts when they were KGB strongmen.
