Subject: Buying an E70 X5 advice please

Hi, I'm contemplating buying a used BMW E70 X5

I prefer the redesign from 2010-13, but the models 2008 onwards aren't out of consideration.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on which engine is most reliable (I've heard that the V8's and models with turbos can break the bank)

That being said, I understand that models from this era are expensive to run – however I'm still willing to take advice while I speculate

Anyone know whether this model has the two pin holes on the sides, or two close together ones near the top of the emblem? I want to replace the roundel but i cant figure out what type of pins this car needs.

Subject: 21 and want an m3 comp xdrive

Let me start by saying I have a passion for cars especially performance ones. Now the real question is wether I should get a new m3 (98k after taxes) or should I just save my money, get a beater and miss out until a later date maybe. So I'm 21 make 105k a year and have no real expenses except food and entertainment. 401k is at the rate my employers matches (5%) and contributing decently to Roth IRA. Parents will help contribute about 1/3 of total monthly payment. If anyone's been in a similar situation and would love to provide some advice would be great. Was it worth it to you go spend a lot on a car if you ended up loving or did you regret gettin an expensive car at a young age.
