Subject: Should I take an old E34 as a project car?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have been thinking about asking a friend who has an old E34 he got as a gift if i could take it off their hands as a project car. I have a brand new mini, and think this could be a good way to learn how to work on bmws/german cars on pretty low stakes considering i have a daily to get to work already.

Question for you all, are e34s good project cars? or will it just become a money pit and a pretty good lesson. Let me know! Thanks!

edit: To clarify, its not in great shape, with probably a lot of rust as its sat in his lawn for years

Subject: E92 M3 Mythbusting

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi, I’m considering an E92 M3 coupe as my next car (not a daily) and I’m hoping you wonderful folks would clear the air for me.

Is the S65 really as troublesome as people say?

I’m coming from another N/A V8 and I’m reluctant to lose the V8 magic, but if there’s some truth about the horror stories then I’d like to hear it from the owners before I get into an F8X.

Please let me know of your experiences of ownership, good and bad. Just trying to make a fully informed choice if I do go ahead and take the plunge.

Thanks in advance.

Subject: Is $12k a fair price for a 2011 328i coupe with only 56k miles?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Looking at a local 328 coupe in very good condition and relatively low miles. Seller is very firm on the price and it comes with BBS rims and a cover. 6 speed manual also which is a plus to me.

Is this reasonable?

Subject: No front plate in NYS

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hey all,

I have a new 540i in NYS and did not put on front plate from the dealer as I investigate other options such as the tow-hook adapters and such.

In the meantime, it seems that everywhere I go I now see high-end vehicles (especially BMWs) without front plates. To my NY peeps, do you drive without a front plate? Are you getting pulled over? What's the risk factor here to rolling without a front plate?

Subject: Potential Problem?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Upgraded to 19” wheels, 9.5” width - I know 255/40 19 squared tires will fit but should I expect any problems driving/braking? Car in question is a F32 XDrive.

Subject: BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe 420D 2015 Reliability UK

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello, I’m planning on buying my first BMW and I got my eyes on a 2015 - 2016 4 series Gran Coupe with about 70-80k miles . I’m ever so slightly worried about their reliability and thought I would be best to ask here.

Q1: What’s your experience owning one?

Q2: Any problems you have experienced?

Q3: Anything to look out for (common issues) or check when I go and see it in person?

Q4: How do they compare to the 3 series?

Q5: Any similar price recommend alternatives?

Thank you!
