For immediate release
BMW of North America and its Phoenix/Scottsdale area dealers will present two new high-performance M models this month during the Arizona Concours d’Elegance, their debut appearance in the state.
BMW and the four local dealerships – Arrowhead BMW in Glendale, BMW North Scottsdale, Chapman BMW Chandler and Chapman BMW on Camelback in Phoenix – are the exclusive New Car Sponsor of the Arizona Concours, which takes place January 22, 2023, at the newly renovated Scottsdale Civic Center Plaza.
Featured at the Concours will be the first-ever 2023 BMW XM, a high-performance luxury SUV with styling inspired by the 2021 XM concept and a stunning 644 horsepower provided by its plug-in hybrid powertrain, anchored by a twin-turbocharged V8 partnered with a powerful electric motor.
The XM is a completely new model for BMW, slated to arrive at Arizona showrooms soon. The plug-in feature will allow the XM to drive solely on electric power for about the first 25 miles of driving, which would cover most commutes.
The other new BMW vehicle is the second-generation 2023 M2 coupe, a reworking of the compact car with plus-size performance. Packing the same 453-horsepower turbocharged straight-6 engine as the M3, the new M2 has been updated with bolder styling and more technology features.
Also being shown by BMW during the Arizona Concours will be two spectacular early examples of the famous lightweight CLS coupe: a 1971 3.0 CSL Alpina road car and a 1971 3.0 CSL Alpina race car in Levi’s regalia that competed in European Touring Car events. Both cars are owned by collector Peter Gleeson.
The Arizona Concours d’Elegance, previously held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix, will present 90 exceptional vehicles on the grass adjacent to the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. The concours will be one of the first events to take place following the extensive renovation of the City Center Plaza.
The theme of the 2023 Arizona Concours is The Art of Aerodynamics, focusing on the history of streamlined vehicles, with entries ranging from early horseless carriages and pre-war classics to select sports and competition cars from Europe and the US, and a display class for the most exotic supercars of today.
The Arizona Concours is partnering with Scottsdale Arts, the organization responsible for multi-disciplinary artistic services in the city[BP1] , to produce the event. Proceeds from the Concours will help support Arizona artists and art organizations.
Tickets for the Concours are available on the ArizonaConcours.com website, at the Scottsdale Arts box office and at ScottsdaleArts.org/events.
