Wondering if it’s really worth it to spring for something with a B48 rather than an N20. For context, i’m decently handy and could do normal maintenance and repairs on the car, but will be going to college in the fall so won’t have much time or the tools to do a big job. Thinking of either a 428i Gran coupé or a 430i gran coupé

I am looking around for a short term car until my actual car gets built and I have been really shocked to see that used m550i go for less than m340i. I live in the DC area and 2018-2020 m550i with around 40-60k miles are selling in the mid 30s while the same m340i is selling in the high 30s low 40s. Is there something I am missing about the m550i? Is it’s less reliable? I don’t really understand why it depreciated so much more.
