Subject: So my F30 Pre-LCI tail light is out, I thought “no problem, easy fix” until I took it apart and realised what the problem is! How much will this cost me to fix it?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

So as I was taking the tail light apart, I couldn’t take off the main cable as it was really jammed, I instead took the clips off which were holding onto the lightbulb housing. As I was taking this apart, I noticed all the corrosion and the two pieces would not speedster as. The metal was melted onto the tail light.

It clear I need a new power plug and the bulb housing. How much would this repair costs me?

Subject: Hopefully picking up my first M car tomorrow

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I've been browsing online for a few months now and I've finally found an F82 worth taking a look at. I'll be flying to see it in person and have already done a good amount of research, but figured I would make one final post to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

Quick rundown: 2016, DCT, lighting/exec/driver assist packages, 40k miles. The seller is asking $40k which isn't great but I also feel like I'm not getting hosed. Two owners, garage kept, and some tasteful carbon bits. The only drawback is the seller still owes $30k (yikes). Also, he's only done oil changes and nothing else so I'm sure it needs a bit of TLC. Oh, and no warranty...

Anyways, I have a whole list of stuff to look for (looking at the overall cleanliness of the car and engine bay, fluids, and quality of the test drive) when I go check it out before sending it to a dealer for the PPI but just wanted to post here in case any other F82 owners had some tidbits of info to throw at me or anything I'm forgetting here.

Subject: G30 vs f10–driving dynamics

Hey guys!

This Tuesday, I picked up a nice g30 540 to replace a f10 528 as my daily driver. I’m really happy with everything, especially that b58.

One thing I noticed though, the steering; it feels very numb and subdued compared to the f10. Is this a quality unique to the g 5 series, or has bmw opted for this characteristic in all their new g series models?

Subject: How are BMW dealerships with negotiating new custom builds?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I ordered a fully loaded 2023 BMW M550 (first beemer, beyond stoked for my dream car 🤗). It’s coming to $91k. What have you all seen in terms of BMW playing ball on negotiating? I’m sure it varies dealer to dealer (mine is BMW of Manhattan), but curious what everyone’s seen.

I work in enterprise tech sales so certainly can do it, just want to set expectations with myself.

Carbon black metallic with black nappa, fineline wood ridge trim, leather dash, anthracite alcantara headliner for those wondering!

Does ready for transport mean it is waiting in the carrier ship? Also, I am seeing people tracking the actual ship. How the heck do you figure out what ship it is on? I am waiting on an M340i so I am assuming it is in Mexico.

Subject: Any chance the 1 Series goes back to RWD?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

The F20 was such a nice car, small, comfy and fun. The F40 moving to FWD makes it feel like going from an F20 to F40 is a downgrade in a sense, very off putting. Yeah I can buy a 2 series but that car is massive compared to the previous gen and the current gen 1 series

Is there a chance they develop a new RWD platform for the 1 series or is it completely dead

used 420i same spec - 14k vs 31k miles??

Hi!

I have been a lurker in this sub for quite a while now. Have been slowly saving up to go for a 4 series, and have finally decided to buy one.

Found 2 recent 420i's, both 2020 reg. One has run only 14k miles and the other one 31k miles over the past 32 months. The 14k one just had its second service done, and I still haven't got the 31k's service history, but I was told that it was up-to-date. Apart from that difference, both are pretty much the exact same thing. There is a price difference of 1500 gbp between the two.

14k - £25000

31k - £23500

Is the 14k 420i worth the extra 1500 splurge? Looking forward to your opinions and suggestions.
