Subject: In light of a recent high mileage post, here's my 2009 335D with 229k miles
![]() | I purchased the car in Aug of 2013 with 49K miles (CPO) and turned over 229K this morning. Below are the things that have been replaced/repaired in my 10 years of ownership (regular maintenance items excluded), in particular order. I have a full breakdown of the maintenance if anyone's interested in that as well.

Read. Oh my God just read. A lot of messages the car throws at you can be understood if you JUST READ WHAT IT SAYS instead of freaking out and coming in only to have me tell you your tire pressure is 2 lbs low. When it says to "check at your convenience", I don't truly believe it is convenient for you to come and tell me you are scared to drive. Also, you can actually pose FULL questions into Google instead of posting on a forum. I would argue you'd receive better, and less passive aggressive answers. Pairing phones, garage doors, tutorials all on YouTube. Multiple sources, all on YouTube. I do not understand the inclination to burden other people with questions that are easily found out on your own. But then again, research is a skill you learn. It would explain a lot.

Mod goal refers to what you want to achieve, e.g. just looks, quarter mile time, handling, a specific power number, etc.

Hi experts,I'm 33 years old and I'm planing to buy a car. That will be my first ever car that I actually owned. I know nothing about car mechanics but I'm very keen to learn. Also currently I live in a condo so I will not have much space to work on the car on my own (If I ever learnt anything to do by my own :D ), so I will have to get the help of a mechanic for almost everything at least for the first 2-3 years.Given what I mentioned above, is it a good idea to buy a used BMW (2011-2013) as my first car ?

Subject: (Not)NEWS: BMW to offer cars with built-in options that you can either (a) buy outright or (b) unlock by subscribing at your convenience and budget
I think there is a lot of FUD going on right now with this move. Why do I need to buy heated anything if I live in the desert when I can just subscribe on demand for my trip up north? I think this will help the resale value of BMW’s as well because the features can likely be unlocked by the new owner if the original didn’t want the option(s) that is already installed.
Where are the real major downside risks here to the consumer?
