Subject: BMW 320i (build year 2001): no speedo, trifecta lights (ABS, DCS and red brake light)
hey guys i have a problem,
a couple of days ago while driving (BMW 320i from 2001) in some pretty bad rain on the highway and i drove pretty fast through a deep puddle (arround 80km/u). a little bit later the 3 lights went on and the speedometer went dead. with a little bit of research i found that there was a high possibility that the speed sensor broke. since i was pretty busy and i wanted the car fixed and road legal i dropped it of at my local BMW garage and they agreed on the broken speed sensor (rear left wheel). after replacing the sensor, they noticed that the problem is still not fixed (still no speedo and 3 lights still lit up) and stated that some wiring probably needed to be replaced.
since i want to know what can cause this i found that these symptoms are also apearing if the ABS-module/pump is dead...is it possible that the entire ABS-module needs to be replaced? (which is a little bit too expansive for a 21 year old car in my opinion). since i do not own any diagnostic tools is there anything i can do or check? or do i need to put my faith into the mechanics and pray BMW-jezus for it to not be ridiclously expansive.
