My destination was Anderson Island in the Puget Sound. It's about to explode in property value as soon as someone puts a helicopter pad on it.

It blows me away, I literally can't believe it, that so much of America can't see it this way. Like... intentional denial is the only reasonable explanation. Wishful thinking. They *want* to believe the *rhetoric* -  even if it means ignoring the obvious.

Either that, or they *know*, and they want to deny it. I have to believe most people are in the first camp - because people in the second group, are actually *evil*.

Well, Bush was also the one who pushed through NAFTA. And most people to this day still think that the PMRC thing was a White Christian Republican thing... when it was actually spearheaded by Tipper Fucking Gore.

Which is why Trump was so disruptive to them. He was actually *delivering* Republican exceptionalism, for the first time since Reagan. Can't have that.

The No Child Left Behind legislation from Republicans is what stopped me from expecting consistency from anyone. I was like, that's Democrat crap. You're fired.

When Europeans talk about liberty I just laugh. But when they get it right, I congratulate them. Good job, Germany. That's my attempt at consistency.

Yeah, that media sensorship was some very conservative Democrat stuff. But so is locking everyone in their houses. And so is keeping minorities from reproducing and arming themselves.

My favorite thing lately is Democrats who can't forgive America's past, but can totally forgive the Democratic Party's past.

So it looks like a softball top 2022 Miata is $27,300. That's the most affordable best car ever. I want one so bad but I have virtually no use case for it.

I had a 97 2 seat Z3 the entire time Courtney was growing up.

The case use is it is a car that ONLY you and one other person, preferably the wife, can be in at a time.

But, rides with ONE of the kids can be special parent/kid bonding moments, too.

It is an EXCELLENT use model. It is your weekend car that is cheap, reliable, fun, and brings you one on one time with your loved ones.

And that is a new one, right? Get one a couple of years old. It isn't like they're German or American. A badly maintained one will probably still run forever.

I'm roughly 99% certain it was Bill Clinton who signed NAFTA while Newt Gingrich was Speaker.

My Pilot got rear ended because idiot fuckers on the freeway follow too close for the inevitable slowdowns at interchanges.  The insurance company says it's totaled but are dragging their feet on doing anything about that, meanwhile it's commuting me just fine even though the tailpipe got pushed into my rear shocks.

I think you're right - Clinton created NAFTA...

And then Bush, in office, expanded it.

FUCK. Was it on 60? 60 is terrible. I got rear ended on 60.

That sucks, man. Sorry. Can't believe it is totaled.

Yeah it was on westbound 60 between Alma School Rd and Dobson.  The insurance is paying out somewhere around 4400 after the salvage title (I'm keeping it) and we have a check now.  Apparently the previous adjuster got fired lol.

I only paid 3k for it, and only owed $750 to the guy I'm buying it from so we're going to the bank probably today to resolve that and get the title changed to a salvage title.  I should be able to get it reasonably repaired with that money, and maybe some new tires too, mine are sketchy AF.

I assume the answer is "Go fuck yourself" but is there any chance I might borrow one of your extra vehicles while mine is in the shop?

Unfortunately, my extra vehicle is in the shop. Funny story, that.

When I took it in for service, they told me oilpan seepage, and thrust rod bushing cracks. About $3000 to repair both. I said, "I bought extended warranty," they said, "talk to them and find out if this is covered."

I got the bumper-to-bumper... so... yes.

I also got the car with only 1 key, so when I did service, I told them to get a new key for it. That was weeks ago.

Friday my wife and I were out in the back yard, and I said, "It looks like rain..." she checked and said, "zero percent chance according to the weather. At the exact same time, BMW called to tell me the key had arrived. I told them I'd head out immediately.

As I backed out, it started to rain. Just a drizzle, and just on my street. By the time I got to Alma School, it had ended, but the car was dirty.

Huge super fatal wreck on 202 headed East. I was headed West... but, wasn't coming back that way.

Go in, find my service tech, get my key, he goes to program it, won't take the program - he has to take it back to a mechanic. Finally gets it back to me... we talk about the warranty service, when he can have it, I say, "Wife is out of town a lot, let me check with her so I have the M4." I get in the car, and it starts to PISS. Just dumping rain. I head home.

I get back to the 10, and as I'm in the turn lane, I see steam coming from the hood. Never saw that before. Thought it was smoke at first. Then thought, "Maybe rain got splashed up and is hitting something hot."

I saw two police cars, lights flashing, tearing down 10... I figure they're headed to that accident. I take 10 home instead of 202... nope, bumper-to-bumper. Major wreck that way too. I get off at Wild Horse, loop back onto 202, still steam coming out every time I come to a stop. Right as I merge onto 202, I get a "Coolant level low, possible engine damage, top off as soon as possible." message.

Next exit is Kyrieen... so I take it, limp back to the dealer... say, "Well, you get to keep the car. Evidently a couple of the radiator hoses cracked. They get me a Lyft. Lyft gets lost and ends up at the Chevy dealer. Finally gets to me, takes 202 home... that first wreck is still there.

Long story short, Left with 1 BMW and 1 key to get 2 keys and 1 BMW... came home with just 1 key.

BUT... it looks like oil pan, thrust rod bearings, and radiator are all going to be covered under warranty. $200 deductible.

Holy shit!  That's some real crap there.  Sorry about it, but at least you're covered.

I went with my friend to change the title over, but apparently I'm not allowed to drive on a salvage title and it's already in the system as a total, so changing the title over means I won't be able to commute until I get my car approved by a mechanic or something like that.  Government is the stupidest thing ever.  It's got an impacted muffler, it's still working perfectly.  There's nothing stopping me from using it.  If I don't change the title I'm fine LOL

How the hell does that work?

Government.

You're winning me over to your side, lately.

They're just an obstacle.

What does it take, what is holding you back, from fixing this problem? I have this theory - there is NO problem more money won't solve.

They're always an obstacle.

Fixing the problem requires more money.  You're right about that.  My friend has the check and once it clears I'll get my portion, which we documented.  Once I have my share I'll be able to take it to a mechanic.  There's a lot of waiting involved.

Sorry I'm just getting back to this...

Did you ever get it resolved? I was going to suggest I could front you the money until the check cleared - but... my warranty repair still cost me $1500 out of pocket which put me in a hole I didn't expect.

I got the cash on Saturday, I deposited it today.  I can finally afford to take it to the shop, but it's going to be hard to figure out how to get it into the shop while I'm working 12 hour days.
